On a side note. A year or so back there were riots in England. Some RW commentators tried to make hay about a supposed sudden increase in the sales of baseball bats over Amazon.com (the claim being they were for home defense and somehow an argument for gun ownership).

My question was, if someone felt the need for defense why would they mail order an item from another country rather than simply use the cricket bat the presumably had already (or could easily obtain)?

That thread is one serious call to in-action. It's so sad that part of me hopes they are taking the piss but I fear it's wishful thinking on my part.

Take a look over in General Skepticism and the Paranormal. There's a thread there where PeaceCrusader is still defending a prophecy that World War III will start before the London 2012 Olympics, even in the light of the fact that it very obviously hasn't. Compared to that level of disconnection from reality, this thread is pretty tame.

Damn, leeching off the Olympics is bad enough but they're attacking the special olympics? They've no class.

It could be worse. PeaceCrusader is up in GS&P hoping that the Paralympic Games are the "real" trigger for a nuclear war that kills most of the worlds population since the original prophecy of it being the Olympics failed to pan out.

Seriously, most of the threads in this forum would wither and die if the trolling CTist were ignored, or if they were "debunked" and then ignored. Some times I think this forum exists more for the non- CTists, the CTists.
