Will Obama Be Impeached?

Clinton was impeached for lying about a BJ. Certainly by putting the final handful of nails in the coffin of our financial future Obama has done worse than that.

Well, this might be true, if Obama hadn't actually rescued the economy from the brink of disaster singlehandedly using his Amazing Powers of Awesome.

Unsupported and overblown rhetoric works both ways, you know. The difference is that I know that only an idiot would write a paragraph like either of the ones above and expect it to be taken seriously.

I just really think the there are a lot of people that really need to retake civics, because they seem to think you can impeach a President simply because you don't like him. Passing bad laws or making stupid decisions (from a partisan standpoint) is not illegal last time I checked, and certaintly doesn't rise to the level of "High Crimes and Misdomeanors".

Except that "high crimes and misdemeanors" is not defined by the court system, but by Congress.

So it can mean anything Congress wants it to mean.

Awe man. You called me an idiot. Your powers of debate have rendered me helpless.

...under oath.

Amazing people forget to mention that part.
Yes under oath... The republicans couldn't seem to defeat Clinton over policies so they tried to defeat him over a cheap technicality. What politician isn't going to lie about that, even under oath, if he thinks he can get away with it? Meanwhile the presidency and congress were sidetracked from more important issues for months. For what? He was acquitted.

BO's multi-trillion dollar deficit in only his first year will have longer lasting and more serious implications.

Unfortunately, Chaos has the right of it. In some parts of the country, I don't dare crank up my CB, simply because I can't stand to listen to the hateful bile that is oozing out from the speaker. It's horrifying to hear people openly calling for Obama to be shot and killed, especially in parts of the country where you think he'd be respected.

LA has some of the worst of it, with everyone from Ku Kluxers to people claiming to be Black Nationalists demanding that someone put a bullet through the man's head. It gets genuinely scary, because if you really wanted to change things, you'd register and VOTE.

That "cheap technicality" would land you and I in jail.

A lot I imagine. Shame it's illegal. Perjury is a crime...full stop.

Maybe he shouldn't have been impeached. Maybe it was political. Tough crap. Once you are under oath, you have to tell the truth even if you are are humiliated. Life sucks sometimes.

None of that has anything to do with lying under oath.

[derail] Was Ken Starr ever charged with the crap he pulled at that time? I remember some talk about the question having nothing to do with what was being investigated or some such. [\derail]

Not much of a derail. I though Starr should have been charged for leaking information, or at least allowing his staff to do so. That was completely out of line.

Interesting to hear, in a slightly vomit-inducing way. (I´ve just had lunch - if I lose it, I´ll hold you responsible :boggled:)

Not that it will stop anyone from claiming that this is exactly equivalent to, or even less serious than, what came from those who opposed Bush...

It wasn't acceptable in either case.

Look, if you don't like what's happening in Washington, (or Berlin, or Stockholm, or Tokyo, or wherever), you have choices and options, not the least of which is being able to vote like a civilized human being. Don't Vote? Don't bitch.

Never said it was acceptable. But there is a difference between, to use an analogy, "I don´t like this guy, he seems stupid" and "I don´t like how this guy uses the Constitution for toilet paper" on one side, and "This guy is a secret muslim commie traitor, let´s just shoot him" on the other.

I´ve voted, in federal, state and local every election, ever since I turned 18, so I freely comment on politics in my country whenever I think there is something that needs commenting on.
I don´t vote in elections for the students´ representative body, though - but then you won´t ever see me bitching about these guys.

On the other hand, I am for some reason not allowed to vote in US elections, no matter how much US politics affect me here. So I reserve the right to bitch about it.

Errr, isn't that the precise reason for making sure that he didn't get away with it?
