Wilbur Ross - Nice country, Saudi Arabia. No protests!

Can these people not go one day without a major, unforced **** up? As if the whole being Putin's prison date isn't enough, he surrounds himself with these mindless incompetents.

Wilbur should have been put out to pasture, not given a cabinet post. He has zero experience in government and is 79 years old! When Trump named him, I first said to myself, "Self, there's a department they're down-sizing without making it apparent. Commerce will continue its path to becoming the government arm of the Chambers of Commerce."

Considering that Trump essentially told Saudi Arabia 'The USA will not pursue human rights issues provided that Saudi Arabia helps to pay for the USA anti-terrorist operations' then one should not be surprised when a Trump lackey has also become Saudi Arabia lackey.

How about just for some sweet deals on his properties in country?

He went on to add, "The women were so modestly dressed, as well, and they were all thoughtful enough to avoid driving. What a wonderful place!"

Wasn't Commerce one of those departments Rick Perry wanted to get rid of? You, know, including the one he forgot and is now secretary of? Appointing a bozo like this is a step in that direction.

Well, ...

'the Donald' did manage to score a nice big gold medal when he visited Saudi Arabia. So one can just imagine what other goodies he got as well.

I thought that every president who visits Saudi Arabia gets that medal.

W., Obama and now Trump. Don't know about any before that.

I presume they go into the archives.
Has anyone told Donny yet that he doesn't get to keep it? :D

He was saving up his lectures for the Europeans - I mean, not participating enough in bids for the products of US arms manufacturing is a much bigger sin than aggressive wars that starve neighbours and internal repression as a legitimate tool of state.

Thank you for the correction.

Thank you for the correction.

You flatter me (:o) but it wasn't much of a correction.

So I looked it up...

The Award/Order seems to only go back to '71. The "Medal & Collar" appears to be a fabicated gee gaw for presentation to favored pols, diplomats etc. Much more recent vintage (2007-ish?).
Putin has one, T. May has one, S. Abe has one... and just the three US Presidents I had heard about.

And it seems, like all (?) gifts to US Presidents... Trump can buy it back from the Archves if he wishes (it's real gold so he just might)... its value is pegged at $32,000.

Now I'm done. :D
