On Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, on CBS, ABC and NBC television, between 6.30 and 7.00pm Pacific Time, (5.30 to 6.00 on Saturday) we are presented with about 15 minutes of news, and 15 minutes of pharmaceutical advertising for products such as Lipitor, Plavix, Lunesta, AmbienCR, Boniva, Reclast, Cymbalta, Chantix, Viagra, Cialis and Avodart.
But on Saturday, when network news is usually presented between 5.30 to 6.00, there are no drugs. Instead we are persuaded to buy a pretty glass plant waterer, a pancake/waffle press, or a paper cutter with inbuilt light.
What's the economics, business or finance behind this?
