Why It Will Be President Perry in 2013

When I say the CFR were indirectly involved I only mean that they benefitted from it. :)

Just to offer a Texan perspective, and cui bono and such, the Texas budget for this year is not as yet balanced. The number being tossed about is 12, or 20 billion or so shortfall. (I am not sure which numbers to believe). Texas Tribune reports 27 billion shortfall.

So, maybe the CFR or some of their banking friends hold some notes, or interests as collateral in land between Houston and Victoria where those nice new oil shale fields are ...

Go with that idea where you will.

Here is a link to the CFR website: http://www.cfr.org/

They are an "internationalist" think tank (with a members only dining room on the Upper East Side of Manhattan). "Internationalist" == "neo-con" to left wingers who don't like the type, but "Communist" to the John Birch Society.

Yes they make US presidents and other successful politicians honorary members. Calling them an international conspiracy is about on par with calling the Reform Club a Zionist conspiracy because Lord Balfour was a member.

An explanation of what I was talking about:

It's a good deal less conspiratorial in the classic "conspiracy theorist" sense and more along the lines of municipal corruption with respect to residential zoning. David Rockefeller used plenty of pull above what money can openly buy to profit from destroying a local industry.

This is what happened that inspired the John Birch Society to blame the CFR for Communism way back when:

David Rockefeller bought the New York stockyards and adjacent slum tenements. He then tore down the stockyards and built the world headquarters of a then new international organization (you'd recognize the name). He did this all on spec with his own money, and donated the headquarters outright.

At the time the main purpose of this international organization was to keep Germany down, though they have done many other things since then.

Meanwhile, David Rockefeller made back his investment by redeveloping the tenements into some of the priciest high density urban residential real estate in the world.

And yes David Rockefeller was a member of the CFR, and not just an honorary member. And so they are conveniently near the world headquarters of that originally anti-German outfit.

An international conspiracy of big shots to schmooze other big shots.

Perry launches on Obama for cutting NASA
Citing the 42nd anniversary this week of the first moon walk, Perry went on to say that, "this administration has set a significantly different milestone by shutting down our nation's legacy of leadership in human spaceflight and exploration, leaving American astronauts with no alternative but to hitchhike into space."

Actually, it was the Bush Administration that decided to end shuttle missions, and the Obama Administration extended the life of the shuttle program by adding two additional flights.

{snip}

Perry, who frequently criticizes Washington spending, objected to the planned NASA cuts as an example of how the Obama Administration is leading "federal agencies and programs astray, this time forcing NASA away from its original purpose of space exploration, and ignoring its groundbreaking past and enormous future potential."
"Fire!"
"Aim!"
"Ready!"

Y'know, I know full well that this is a shameless political tactic, and largely devoid of meaning. However, given the Democrats' habit of rolling over for pretty much every Republican attack, perhaps this will get them to adequately fund the JWST.

Is America ready to elect a REAL religious radical to high office? It didn't work very well for Pat Robertson....
"Pat, if God told you to run, why didn't you win?"

"Pat, if God told you to run, why didn't you win?"

God was testing his faith.

For that matter, both Perry and Bachman claim God is calling them.

It is completely in character for God to be messing with their heads. At least He didn't tell them to sacrifice their firstborn sons.

Polls at this point suggest that Perry might not be as strong a general election candidate as Romney would be.

http://pollingreport.com/wh12gen.htm

Fox News Poll conducted by Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). July 17-19, 2011. N=904 registered voters nationwide. Margin of error ± 3.
"Thinking ahead to the next presidential election, if the election were held today, how would you vote if the candidates were Democrat Barack Obama and Republican [see below]?" Options rotated

Obama (D): 47%
Romney (R): 41%
Other: 1%
Wouldn't vote: 3%
Unsure: 8%

Obama (D): 47%
Perry (R): 37%
Other: 1%
Wouldn't vote: 3%
Unsure: 11%

ABC News/Washington Post Poll. July 14-17, 2011. N=1,001 adults nationwide. Results below are among registered voters.

"If the 2012 presidential election were being held today and the candidates were Barack Obama, the Democrat, and [see below], the Republican, for whom would you vote?" If unsure: "Would you lean toward Obama or toward [see below]?" Options rotated

Obama (D): 49%
Romney (R): 47%
Other: 2%
Wouldn't vote: 1%
Unsure: 1%

Obama (D): 53%
Perry (R): 40%
Other: 2%
Wouldn't vote: 2%
Unsure: 3%

Quinnipiac University Poll. July 5-11, 2011. N=2,311 registered voters nationwide. Margin of error ± 2.

"If the 2012 election for president were being held today, and the candidates were Barack Obama the Democrat and [see below] the Republican, for whom would you vote?"

Obama (D): 47%
Romney (R): 41%
Other: 2%
Wouldn't vote: 2%
Unsure: 7%

Obama (D): 50%
Perry (R): 37%
Other: 2%
Wouldn't vote: 2%
Unsure: 10%

Average those out and Obama gets about 47% vs. 43% for Romney, whereas against Perry Obama's goes up to 50% vs. 38% for Perry. I think that if I were Obama's campaign manager, I'd rather go up against Perry given those numbers.

For those unaware, like bikerdruid, Perry won in 2006 on a plurality. Strayhorn left the GOP to run as independent, which hosed the independent voting block for Kinky Friedman who won about 16% anyway. The Dems ran a bit of a nice guy loser. Not a few Repubs in Texas were of Strayhorn's view, that Perry was a fool regarding Texas budget and expenses.

Had either Strayhorn (Former Texas Comptroller) or Friedman been the only independent ... given the bad odor both parties were in .. it is possible, though not a lock, that one independent could have won with a decently run campaign. A Jesse Ventura moment for Texas, if you will.

It was worth a try. Too bad it was a self inflicted "divide and conquer" among the independents. What happened is that voter turnout was between, IIRC, 4 and 5 million. A better indy campaign looked to have turned out more "toss the bums out" votes, but with two indies in the mix, I think a lot of folks stayed home.

±%
Republican Rick Perry 39.03
Democratic Chris Bell 29.79
Strayhorn 18.13
Friedman 12.43
Werner 0.61
Dillon 0.02

Ah...not exactly. Bush presided not over the decision to end the shuttle, but to replace the shuttle with a new booster and vehicle system.

In other words, a new and improved manned space program.

Obama presided over the cancellation of the new booster and vehicle system, and the final termination of the shuttle program.

In other words, no manned space program.

Let's get things reasonably correct, eh?

And hows liberal california doing:o

Other than giving their electoral votes to a Dem every 4 years, I really have a hard time seeing how California is being "liberal". They have some of the most vocal Republican reps in Congress, and their state legislature has been in a jam for years because the Republicans and the Democrats can't reach an agreement.

If the state was "liberal", then it would show quite a bit more.
