Why did the Jews leave Auschwitz

And the Zionists just marched into Hitler's office and presented him with the surrender documents to call off the boycott? No negotiation? Nothing leading up to the final document? Jeeeeez.

Non-sequitur. You claimed Hitler had no dictatorial powers. I showed you he had.

Nothing leading up to the final document?
.
Quite a bit, in fact.

But you seem spectacularly reluctant to discuss what was happening to Jews and their businesses at this time in Germany which lead up to the proposed boycott which you admit had no actual effect, other than to make it seem a *good* idea to leave Germany without most of their own assets.

And BTW, how did that work out for those that left, but not far enough away -- say, for example, Anne Frank's family?
.
.
Indeed.
.

Oh, I'd love to read that (in German of course) if there were such a court case. But I think you're wrong. :) It's very hard to point at an illegality here.

Thank you for the information. We are on the same track, however I believe that combining the role of President and Chancellor is illegal due to article 44 of the constitution.

Article 44 The Reich President may not simultaneously be a member of the Reichstag.

Bingo! Hitler was a member of the Reichstag (link to list).

To keep splitting hairs, though: the Weimar Constitution only says the President cannot be a member of the Reichstag. It says nothing about the Chancellor nor about the Ministers. They could either be MP or not. There are several Ministers in Hitler's Cabinet who were not MP, and I guess that was the case in earlier Weimar Cabinets too.

So the illegality was not in uniting these offices, but in the fact that Hitler didn't resign as MP. ;)

I can see your argument. Your position is that Hitler is wearing two hats and simply changes hats when walking into the reichstag from president to chancellor. Fair enough. I'm saying that once he combined those roles into "Führer" in 1942 he could not "change hats". Again, that would have to be argued in a constitutional court at the time and that is a nightmare we can both avoid as we are simply having a general chat (This is a interesting chat and sort of discussing alternative history)
