Why did allopathy become scientific?

My question is, did homeopathy not only stagnate, did it ever flourish? [/B]

It's interesting how more things change, the more they stay the same.

Early in the 19th century, people disapproved of the 'unnatural' path being followed by conventional medicine. Sulfur drugs, for instance, were disliked because they were technically synthetic drugs. Any time you deviate away from what people can understand (or, more importantly, control), they get upset. Taking herbs and stuff is not only natural, it's comfortable. So homeopathy boomed in the mid 19th century because people wanted to go back to the methods used by their grandmothers. Just like today - people ignorant of conventional medicine feel comfortable relying on something they can claim authority over.

Nothing has changed in 200 years, and unless education changes radically in coming years, nothing will change in the next 200.
