Why Are You Voting For Kerry?

Yeah, I think you've basically nailed it. Some people just like Bush. They can't articulate why. They are clearly misinformed or confused. They listen to Bush's ridiculous falsehoods and call them ice cream. But they just like Bush.

I don't know that they are misinformed or confused. I think that they are in a zone where being informed or not confuses is simply not an issue for them. Perhaps they are scared or want things to be OK or something.

I really don't see it. I can't see one thing Bush has done that has made the US safer. Yet people trust Bush to make the US safer.

It even doesn't matter if one was for or against the invasion of Iraq. It seems fairly apparent that the post-invasion situation has been disastrous, and it was obvious from the getgo that it would be disastrous. Yet Bush is on record as saying that he didn't think there would be any casualties post-invasion.

But it's not even an issue for supporters of Bush. They simply don't care. At all.

As for me, I have cast my votes for major offices about equally for Democrats and Republicans. I base my vote on who I think will do a better job. In the case of an incumbent, I base my vote in part upon how well the incumbent has done.

I'm a registered Republican, but I have been known to vote either way.

In the case of an incumbent, I usually vote against the incumbent unless the results have been truly spectacular.

It is distressing that I have not yet heard anyone offer a respectable, articulate argument that Bush is the better man.

I don't think it's based on reason. I think it's based on fixation.
