2003 is not 1987.

The Bushistas asserted that Iraq had current WMD programs and usable stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, with the Atom Bomb only "15 minutes" away.

We did not get a war on the basis of the reality of 1987, we got a war on the basis of the lies of 2003.

One further note, we are not sure about who gassed those people. They type of gas used was one known to be used by Iran and not known to be used by Iraq. So, it could have been Iraq, but if so we have incomplete intelligence on just what they were actually using.
