Interesting reactions. I shall ponder them for a bit.
It's not "snobbery", it's unprofessionalism. For a diplomat to complain of having to work because of a diplomatic crisis involving a hostile nuclear power suggests unfitness for the job. That's not an attitude one wants for someone in that job. Just like you wouldn't like to hear your heart surgeon bitching about having to work the day of your surgery when she'd rather be on the beach, would you? What kind of job performance do you think you're getting from someone who announces, publicly, how much they are annoyed by having to do their job?
I may resent having to work nights, weekends, and holidays in my job but I sure as hell never let the people I'm doing work for at those times know that. As far as they know I adore being woken up at 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving to deal with their emergency.
^Bingo!^
It's a very rare holiday in my adult life where I didn't end up working or at least on call.
If you want holidays off for yourself or your family, don't go into the Military, Government or public service.
I can understand that she'd complain to family and friends, but for a UN ambassador to post something like that on social media, where the whole world can read what she thinks about having to work is poor form.
I mean, she didn't exactly complain, but she did open herself up to those accusations. Something someone in her position should know to avoid.
On the other hand, compared to what's apparently perfectly reasonable for the POTUS to tweet, this is nothing.
Also, I find the sentimentalist 'hurr, wut about our troooops?' argument to be cheap and tiring.
No one complains more about working holidays than people in the military. Our chief of the boat's favorite phrase was "a bitching sailor is a happy sailor."
Having once found myself a party to a conversation where a father explained to myself (Army) and another guy (Corps) why his son was "too good" and "too smart" for military service, you are far from being alone.
The Navy qualifies as being a military branch? When did this happen?
I was too good for the other branches.
I'll take that under advisement (you know I'm just breaking your agates for the sake of good form, right? I feel a moral obligation to do so.)
And I hope you see mine was a funny dig based on your other post.
I'm left confused. What was wrong with her tweet? (Apart from the general wrongness of all tweets?)

“Spending my 4th in meetings all day. #ThanksNorthKorea.”
The time honored tradition.
I'm never offended by my brothers in arms.
How about sisters in arms? (Army)
I agree, it is bad form to bitch about work publicly.
Hopefully, her mention of North Korea was about
working night and day on diplomacy?
While Trump is otherwise occupied.
