Who will win the Alabama Senate special election?

I was wrong, and I'd like to apologize for my bleak view of the people of Alabama.

On behalf of all US southerners, apology accepted.

Among whites, Moore won 70/30, among blacks he lost 98/2.

Moore also lost among women and young people.

IMO the messages are clear:

• Old white men are happy for a racist, Christian dominionist, misogynist, child molester to represent them
• The GOP needs to ensure that as few blacks, young people and women vote as possible in the next election either by getting them off the rolls or persuading (or "persuading") them not to vote
• This result is an aberration, expect service as usual to resume next time around

That's true, that social "gravitational force" will recover sooner than later, at least for the next 20 years.

But it's still enjoyable the show such disrupted gravity puts when Trump is around. I am with the Constitution about this and say: "Whee! the People..."

On the sad side of this story, it took an alleged child molester, the GOP cutting campaign financing, the Democratic taking this like a national crusade, and a conservative electorate with a guilty conscience about voting such a reactionary buckaroo (so many resolved themselves via write-ins and absenteeism), everything put together to get Jones to win by the skin of his teeth

...it was with great joy and relief that I watched CNN call the election for Jones.

Both most likely. The polling is pointing to wave election in 2018. This race is similar to the upset that Scott Brown pulled off in Massachusetts in 2010.

The interesting thing is going to watching what happens with the Bannon/Mercer primary challengers they promised. This was their first experiment in a solid red state and it blew up in their faces even though Moore sailed through the primary.

Republicans are certainly hard at work on their political calculators this morning. Most Trump supporters probably don't realize how fast this nihilistic, power-obsessed Republican Congress could turn on Trump as soon as they see him as a liability instead of an asset.

I think they always saw him as more a liability than an asset. The question is when will turning against him be a political advantage instead of liability.
