Merged Whitney Houston dead

If you have something to say then say it or remain silent.

Because it's not about logic & reason, its about feeling emotion. Granted they can overlap, but though many people on this forum could break down the who, what, where, & why of Iago (From Shakespeare's Othello), few, if any, could make people hate him like I could.

Same with Whitney, Elvis, Micheal, etc... It would take you less than a day to learn the lyrics. Odds are, if you had a year to work out the logic & reason behind why their hits, "hit" so to speak, you would go on stage and fail in an epic fashion.
First you preach on and on about me making logical fallacies (which you fail to point out and name when pressed) and then you make an argument from emotion?

Yet they could take the lyrics of pretty much any song you choose & receive a standing ovation if not make it a hit. That is talent. You may not like it, you muay deny it... but its a fact.
That's not talent that is luck. The same luck that causes one to be a hit (let's call him George) can cause another to be a miss (let's call him Lucas).

It's a big factor, too because it cause a truly talented individual to miss while a complete hack can be a hit.

What?

I specifically point out that its not about logic & you whine about logical fallacy? (Which you can't point to any I preached on & on about.)

So emotions don't count in art but luck does?

BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

Why is emotion or feelings people get from music "woo" but the people who get a hit due to luck isn't?

Sorry it was crimresearch who was making unsubstantiated claims about logical fallacies. I apologize from the bottom of my heart.

Do I really need to spell it out for you? It's the fickle nature of the audience. Get the bad luck to have a hard room and your career can be over before it starts. Can there be someone with enough talent to win over a hard room?

Sure, why not? But those are a rare lot.

Ooh, this news just reminded me. The new season of The Walking Dead premieres tonight.

Maybe a cameo appearance?

Failing to appreciate people attempting to make arguments for or against music. Music and art, culture affect us emotionally, viscerally perhaps. Why bother with logic and reason?

So, as others have said, let's get back to the jokes.

Woo.

This already has a thread in the "Social Issues" area FYI. No, I don't know why.

I recall the first funeral I went to, and was a bit put out to see people laughing and joking; it was supposed to be a solemn event! But getting older I realised it's an occasion to remember the joy that someone has brought to this world.

To be sure it's not the same as the immediate aftermath of a person's death. Humour under the those circumstances I think is often the case "there but for the grace of god go I" (even if one isn't religious).

Friend and I watching programme last night* about girl who died after plunging into a dry swimming pool having taken 2 tabs of LSD with friends. Came to the conclusion if you're going to take drugs, then much as you have a designated driver when out drinking, you need someone not to get high to keep an eye for trouble.

Furthermore I think there might even be a business model here. For who among friends wants to be the odd one out? Why not for a nominal fee hire a flunkey who can call the paramedics, fire brigade, coastguard, when things go pear-shaped?

* - Before we knew Houston had a problem.

You forgot endless replaying of top tunes and/or movies.
And the review at New Year. That could be merged with an anniversary tribute if the death is close enough to January, kind of like when kids' birthdays are too close to Xmas. ;)

....Very good list overall. :)
