White House Survivor

Indeed. We haven't heard one damn syllable about this looming crisis that was so severe it required a military deployment.

This is about all I'm able to glean about the Caravan:

Trump can only concentrate on one thing at a time. Today it's the Dems stealing votes in Florida.

Admittedly the deployed military isn't actually doing anything anymore, it was all just an election stunt and I am sure the military is happy to be used to bolster the presidents polls.

Edith Wilson was defacto president for the last year or so of her husband's presidency after he had a stroke. And then there was Nancy Reagan, and her astrologer.

Go overseas, and you have Madame Du Barry, who Ran France while mistress of Louis the 15th, and perhaps most destructively, the Empress Alexandria, wife of the Tsar Nicholas the Second, who could pretty much bend the Tsar around her finger, and herself was pretty much controlled by Rasputin.

Nancy Reagan had the good sense and grace to mother **** Donald Regan behind closed doors. There were enough rumors to make sure everyone knew it was her but she did it how a first lady should. No one elected the president's latest bimbo so she should be not using her spokesperson to advocate on issues of governance.

For some reason, it seems even worse that she's "officially" advocating for the firing of the deputy national security advisor. Nancy not only knew not to issue any press releases, but she went for arguably the biggest game in the person of the President's chief of staff.

Of course, going after anybody on the basis of personal animus (almost certainly the case here) is just plain wrong. At the end of the day, the idea behind giving the President's spouse special status and funding is that s/he will support the President, and the agenda of the first spouse will not interfere with the workings of the rest of the government.

Melenia's big mistake was forgetting that the key to being a power behind the throne is to stay out of sight behind the throne.

Ricardel has been fired as Deputy NS Adviser. Will get new post elsewhere in admin.

So Melenia is now Wormtongue and Trump is now senile Théoden. Nice.

But I am not seeing any news reports that Ricardel has been fired.

Fired from her job as Deputy NS Adviser. She will be assigned to a different position in the administration. Per CNN.

She got what she wanted. She showed that she can make Cheeto actually look stupid in a way that he cares about. That was an outright assertion of power. I don't think it was a mistake at all.

I think what she showed is that she's got enough dirt on Trump that he can't afford to ignore her express wishes. There's no way he gives in unless he's scared. He doesn't respect women enough otherwise, especially if they're dumb enough to marry him.

I don't think he wants to add divorce to his legal woes.

She also picked an easy target.Apparently Ricardel had alienated almost everybody in the Trump White House, including John Kelly. her departure might have been just a matter of time.

I don't even see how this is possible. The First Lady is not an elected, or even appointed, position. How could she have any say in the government of the country?

All first ladies do. Most of them have the good sense to wield a subtle knife instead of cudgel.
