Which news commentators do you like?

There have been a few threads about Fox, O'Reilly, etc. So instead of talking about who we don't like, let's figure out who we do. That is a much shorter list for me :)

I am not fond of anyone I can think of from CNN, FOX or MSNBC. I like Dan Rather- he is very good in a crisis. I like Ted Koppel. I like the hosts for Face the Nation and Meet the Press ( names of both escape me right now)

From print, I like Howard Kurtz from Washington Post, Thomas Friedman from NY Times, Michael Kinsley from Slate, David Broder from Washington Post. I know there are others I am forgetting, but this is a start.

He's more of a presenter/interviewer than a commentator, I suppose, but does anyone else like Tim Sebastian from HardTalk on BBC? He's the anti-Larry King.

In print journalism, Mark Steyn never fails to amuse and inform.

I don't like or dislike most of the commentators, except for Daniel Shorr, whom I have to admire if only because he qualified for Nixon's "enemies list" and because he's old enough to be there and is still on the job.

Michelle Malkin is one of my favorites. She is smart, loud, hardcore, obnoxious, opinionated, and cute! ;)

Don't like Rather. He is an anchor more than a commentator though. Come to think of it, I like most of the commentators on Special Report on Fox. CC Conelly, Mara Liason, Juan Williams, Charles Krauthammer, Mort Kondracke, and even the boorish Fred Barnes. Sometimes I just want to strangle Fred though and yell "let Mara speak". Krauthammer's delivery is so sterile but his observations usually make up for his lack of on-air demeanor.

That's interesting, Mara Liason and Juan Williams are NPR/PBS staples. I have a ton a respect for both.

Nina Totenberg is the person who I like the best. She can read Supreme Court transcripts and make it interesting. Plus, she's actually willing to read Supreme Court transcripts on the air. When she does a story, you can actually expect it to be news.
