Which is the only true religion?

If you are not attached to your religion then it is the only true religion. You can use this religion to help first yourself and thereafter others.

If you are not attached to your bicycle then it is the only true bicycle. You can use this bicycle to help first yourself and thereafter others.

Having crossed over to the further shore, he might think, 'How useful this raft has been to me! For it was in dependence on this raft that, making an effort with my hands & feet, I have crossed over to safety on the further shore. Why don't I, having hoisted it on my head or carrying on my back, go wherever I like?' What do you think, monks: Would the man, in doing that, be doing what should be done with the raft?"

But if one doesn't belong to any religion then he is alone, no together action practices. He is left alone and torn by life waves without any support, without any encouragement. Maybe we should get rid of companies, police, post, internet... Come on. What is wrong with religions? Why do we accept other institutions e.g. out job, marriage, schools but strangely not religion? Why?

Why ask why?

Religion is not on the eight fold path.

Nor is my bicycle.

Mother Theresa, Padre Pio and Anthony de Mello were not attached to Christianity and hence they got enlightenment and helped thousands of people. They changed Catholic Church's consciousness significantly. There was nothing wrong for them to believe in Jesus Christ. On the contrary!

Nonsense. You can belong to many other groups. Should you believe in a religion just for the group support?

He is left alone and torn by life waves without any support, without any encouragement.

How does religion support you?

Maybe we should get rid of companies, police, post, internet...

Good luck in the jungle.

Come on. What is wrong with religions? Why do we accept other institutions e.g. out job, marriage, schools but strangely not religion? Why?

Beacuse they make sense to us, religion does not.

Well, obviously, Roman Catholicism is the one true religion, for it is the Pope's religion (and he's infallible), Stephen Colbert's religion and JRR Tolkien's religion. Oh, and Anthony Burgess's, and JFK's. But none of that matters, because really, the main point is that "every sperm is sacred", you can eat pork, don't have to cut your wiener and, since your sins can be forgiven in your lifetime, unlike in all those protestant religions, you get the chance to recant your life of debauchery on your deathbed.

Still, I may be wrong, perhaps the one true religion is voodoo. It should come in handy in the coming zombie apocalypse.

They are all based on fairy stories, like the bible, that were written by bronze-age goat herders. .

aggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how many freaking times,
:mad::mad::jaw-dropp:covereyes
"the bible is bronze age mythology rewritten by Iron age goat herders"

Mother Theresa helped the poor all her life.
Father Pio was seen in many places at the same time, many, many times.
Anthony de Mello wrote - Awakening, A minute of nonsense, A minute of wisdom, the pray of the frog.

I am not saying that there are no saints in other religions. You give me the names of saints of other religions, please.

So it is Christianity you are selling. Not that I'm surprised.....
- One of the most greedy religions in history.

None of them. They are all based on fairy stories, like the bible, that were written by bronze-age goat herdersconmen. Except the more recent religions, which were written by conmen like Hubbard.

for me, the only true religion is that of the Emperor, and we, as his children, should purge the Xenos and the heretics should they attempt to destroy us.

Religion is hardly the only place one can find company or support. I have never belonged to any religion, but I do lots of things together with other people.

I accept those institutions which serve a purpose and help society function. Companies provide employment, services, products, etc. The police provide protection to the citizenry. I get that some people accept the function of religious institutions and so they support them with their dollars. They don't provide a service that I want or need, but I'm not arguing that they be disbanded anymore than I would argue that country-western bars should be disbanded. I just choose not to patronize those establishments.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, but the Catholic Church has always been, and still is, one of the most powerful and immoral organizations to ever exist. It cares more about its own power and influence than it does about people. It rejoices in its ability to spread misery and suffering throughout the world.

Mother Theresa helped the poor all her life.
No. She rejoiced in the suffering of others. She extended the suffering of others so she could wear it on her sleeve like a badge of honor. She was a horrible human being.
Father Pio was seen in many places at the same time, many, many times.
Padre Pio was a con artist.
Anthony de Mello wrote - Awakening, A minute of nonsense, A minute of wisdom, the pray of the frog.
I don't know who this guy is, but the quote you selected doesn't impress me much.

I am not saying that there are no saints in other religions. You give me the names of saints of other religions, please.
There are no saints in the catholic religion either. Oh sure, they endow people with that particular title, but I can't think of a single one who behaved in any sort of honorable way. The evil rises to the top of that organization.

No, but we do both evidence a reverence for Zeddemore's Principle.

This?

Janine Melnitz: Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster and the theory of Atlantis?
Winston Zeddemore: Ah, if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say.

This is a load of bull stuff, unloaded from the truck-bed of ignorance, close-mindedness, and lack of reasoned thought.

Because some of us have learned to walk without a crutch, and others of us always had that particular freedom.

A saint is someone who is in heaven so there are probably many (Abraham, Moses, and Elijah for instance)

But those guys never accepted Jesus into their hearts as their personal saviour! I can only assume that they must be burning in HELL. Sorry, no Jews allowed in the Fundie Heaven.

Try again.

Well, if martyrs count then even the Unitarian Universalists have those:

1965: Viola Liuzzo was a 39-year-old white mother and a civil rights worker from Detroit who came to Alabama to help with voter registration. She was murdered March 25, 1965 en route to a civil rights meeting.

1965: James Reeb clubbed in Selma, Alabama, after responding to a call by the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. for a second Selma–to–Montgomery–march. Selma's public hospital refused to treat the Rev. Reeb, who was taken to University Hospital in Birmingham, two hours away. Reeb died on Thursday, March 11, with his wife by his side. His death inspired thousands to join King in the successful third march to Montgomery.

1988: Toribio Quimada, founder of the UU Church of the Philippines, shot on Negros Island by unknown assailants believed to have been responding to his social justice ministry.

2008 Greg McKendry and Linda Kreager, members of Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.

And they don't even consider themselves an organized religion!
