Photos circulating on social media have raised new questions about the whereabouts of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as he faces criticism amid a surge in COVID-19 in his state.

Critics of the Republican governor have accused him of being "Missing in Action (MIA)" as Florida has set new daily records for new COVID infections four times since December 23.

DeSantis last held a press briefing about the pandemic on December 17 and photos of the governor shared to social media have raised questions.

DeSantis' official Twitter account has recently shared photos of him that were apparently taken several days earlier without noting the fact. On Tuesday, DeSantis' account posted a photo that had been taken 12 days earlier—a fact later confirmed to MSNBC by the governor's office.

On Thursday, DeSantis' Twitter account shared a photo of him at Bagelicious Deli & Bakery in Ocala, Florida. Grant Stern, executive director of Occupy Democrats, pointed to a December 17 Facebook post from Bagelicious Deli & Bakery featuring that same photo.

Typical libtard - here is someone trying to do something, and you still criticize him - what would you do - I bet it would be "promote science based solutions" - well they had chicken pox parties when I was a kid and they never did any harm, apart from blindness, disfigurement, and death to a few!

Well, I don't like to disappoint you Shemp but surely this is a verifiable picture of him from New Year's Day, isn't it? He says he is getting an award from some Bible bashers called "Let Us Worship".

That said, it does look like he is standing next to Mick Hucknall from the 1980s, so it could be an old photograph. I think we should demand he holds up a newspaper tablet with today's date on it, rather than a slate from Anne of Green Gables's school.

So, he couldn't make even just a short appearance for two weeks while the Omicron variant rages through Florida because he was accompanying his wife for treatments? He couldn't find a few minutes just to make a quick appearance before the press? Color me skeptical. Two weeks is plenty of time for him to recover from Covid.
 
When something like this happens I always like to look at local news sites. See how it's playing out locally. Below are quotes from a report that appeared Wednesday on WPLG-TV, the ABC affiliate in Miami.
Florida has set a record for new COVID-19 cases with 46,923 reported, according to numbers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The new numbers from Tuesday shattered the record set on Christmas Eve with 32,874 cases. In Miami-Dade County, nearly 1 in every four tests done in the last seven days has come back positive for COVID-19

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings had strong words for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. “Our residents, all Florida residents, should be outraged and they should ask the question, ‘Now where is our state? Where is our governor? Where is Ron DeSantis now?’ Back on Nov. 18 when he held a press conference he signed into law, legislation that effectively prohibited local governments from being able to take charge and lead in our fight against COVID-19,” Demings said at a news conference on Tuesday. On Tuesday Florida set a new record for new Covid-19 cases with over 46,000. Yesterday the state recorded over 76,000. Hard to believe. :(

And - as pointed out by a cancer survivor on another forum - it's hard to think of a step in his wife's treatment, that would require him to be AWOL for as long as he has been.

Also worth noting, the governor's office first tried to pass it off as him being on holiday, talking about how he should be permitted to take time off to be with his small children.

That video shows people crowded cheek by jowl indoors for over three hours, most without masks. No wonder their numbers are soaring.

Supporting a loved one with cancer is something I won't fault anyone for, but I work at a Cancer treatment center and... well the timeline does just add up.

They were seated in the outside dining area of a restaurant, enjoying a meal and drinks without masks. That AOC. What an evil, hypocritical bitch. Because they can never get enough AOC, NR has combined its plot threads in their latest story: "Ron DeSantis Was Joining Wife at Cancer Treatments as AOC Accused Him of Going ‘Missing’"

I'm sure Florida Man Donald Trump is keeping notes. This is precisely the kind of thing he'll catalog if he faces DeSantis in 2024 nomination fight.
 
Well, DeSantis would step over the dead body of his own son and make a campaign ad of him doing it if he thought it would help him get the 2024 Republicans nomination.
