When Government is Based On Religion

Thats the byline for the Krugman piece and I expected as much. The religious right has not gotten their way in the Schiavo case.

That is only because the case had already been well and truly decided and gone through the courts over and over already and she had already been evaluated by independent, court appointed doctors and the "culture of life" side of the case had less than no legal footing to stand on. In fact, the religious right managed to get not only the Governor of Fla, but the entire Congress and the President of the US intimately and actively involved in a case they should never have had anything to do with. Don't kid yourself that the religious right doesn't hold huge sway over the government of this country.
