What's Wrong With Saul Alinsky?

You know nothing about the subject. This thread isn't about Saul Alinsky's book. Your silence is proof of your ignorance.
Note that of course, when Alinsky's book *was* brought up, mhaze dodged any discussion relevant to the OP or to Alinsky by trying to bring Obama into it.

So what have we got from mhaze? Grammar fail, logic fail, and topic fail.

  • Could you provide evidence?
  • What does that have to do with Obama?

Evidence that some conservatives have that paranoid belief?

Alinsky was a community organizer in Chicago. So was Obama. Therefore Obama is just like Alinsky.

Ant Pogo is right; I am not saying these are rational beliefs. Nor are they entirely irrational; Alinsky's book does provide some basis for the paranoia. I just happen to think that the belief is wrong in most cases.

Thanks. I really appreciate that. :)

Next the organizer must begin the task of agitating: rubbing resentments, fanning hostilities, and searching out controversy.

Hmmm, sounds like Newt.

Generously I'd say Gingrich is just mouthing syllables from an anti-Obama random-clause generator because he loves, loves loves to hear himself talk.

Not so generously I'd say he's finding a way to stir vaguely anti-Semitic sentiments.

But that makes no sense.

Might want to ask Alinsky's son about that. Oh, and he's not dead.

That's why I said earlier I'd be willing to discuss the book on an equal basis with anyone who cared to.
Great! Go start a thread about it. You can post by typing with your right hand and reply by typing with your left hand. In this thread, however, we are discussing Newt's invocation of Alinsky's name. Period.

Why?

No, Saul Alinsky, much like Generalissimo Francisco Franco, is still dead.
I meant the son.

Why?

He has an opinion on the matter. Why else would I have mentioned it?

Clearly we would stand a better chance of getting a useful response on Rules For Radicals from the very much dead Alinsky, than from you.

That's been my point all along. The actual facts are established by the writings of Alinsky as in his book. Neither my opinion or yours is relevant. The actual writings trump both. Which is why I have not offered opinions.

Am I the only one here who noticed "Alinsky" rhymes with "Lewinsky"...

Coincidence? :D
No.

Now I'm impelled to offer "an opinion".

both suck bigtime.

Is the performance the Tapdance of Vagueness or the Dodging Waltz of Bluster? I can't put my finger on it.

Hey, I warned y'all.
For years, the only time I ever heard of Alinsky was when mhaze waved his name about in an opaque manner. Since then, I noticed Alinsky mentioned by David Horowitz and Glenn Beck, solidifying my impression that these references are inane straw men of some kind or another.
Unrelenting.

But all the hints are there, comprising a path to true knowledge and comprehension of the Alinsky method, practice, and utility.

Only for those who take the hints and search a bit, of course.

What, may I ask, would you prefer? A blustering red neck shouting opinions, only to fulfill your fantasies of knuckled dragging subhuman opponents in the political sphere? No.

It's simply hilarious to find that a conservative should be pressed to lecture and educate those of the radical left on their own principles. But true learning has to be sought after, and acolytes of the Alinsky method, if they seek, they shall find the very truthies which seem so elusive at this time.

Ah, the wonders of the progressive!

:)

You do seem to use those 'methods' so well, doing everything in your power to avoid the actual topic of the thread.

As far as I can tell, you don't like Alinsky, because he is a 'jerk'.

Ah...no...by his own admission and characterization the label applies suitably.

How can you assert less of someone who contrives and stages a Fart-In at a orchestral performance, with hundreds of dedicated farters arriving well beaned up and ready to perform their art?

That is a little closer to the topic of the thread. Did this happen? Is this the reason the GOP seem to dislike him so much? Is this why Newt mentioned him?

You know, most people would realize that such an ostensibly perplexing turn of events just might mean that their conceptions of "a conservative" and "those of the radical left" (with their corresponding "own principles") are actually strawmen who bear no relationship whatsoever to reality.
