What's Wrong With Saul Alinsky?

And the liberal left OWNS the FartIns.

Along with many other objectional tactics in the style laid out by Alinsky.

I'm still laughing over the lame effort here to marginalize Alinsky's tactics into "Alinsky Lite" so that they can claim Repubs use them too.

I'm not claiming that. Dick Armey did. I even heard a Teabagger on NPR explicitly say he was using Alinsky's "tactics".

Why do you keep insisting the claim comes from liberals?

Here's some proof.
“As an organization, we have been very closely studying what the left has been doing,” explains FreedomWorks press secretary Adam Brandon, who says he was given a copy of “Rules for Radicals” when he took his current job . Brandon describes the Sept. 12 rally in D.C. as the “culmination of four years worth of work” and says that organizers were “incredibly conscious” of the symbols they chose.

Too funny.

One highly practical way to do that would be to look at the organizations Alinsky started, and those which his followers started. Then look at the Alinsky tactics, which although described among many in the book RFR, were some they actually used in the real world.
I understand that the Alinsky tactics are condensed down to a numbered list. Can you name just one of these tactics that you propose lefties use more than righties?

I suspect most of the naive and gullible but devoted faithful of the latest rehash of a socialist slogan here have never met, let alone numerous times, a Weatherman, a Black Panther, or any of the SDS group, and do not know much more about them than they know about Alinsky.

That should probably tell you something about how prominent these bogeymen actually are in modern liberal politics. Out here in reality, that is.

Meanwhile, if I want examples of conservative hatred and bigotry, I need to look no further than Republican candidates for major political offices.

And even better, an example of that tactic being used.

If mainstream liberals don't know anything about these fringe groups, then how does this support your idea that mainstream liberal politicians are somehow connected to Alinsky?

I'm pretty left, yet I never heard of the guy until Jerome Corsey's book came out and my teabagging neighbor started talking about Bill Ayers and Saul Alinsky (OH NOES!).

My guess is neither had he.

I really don't care about what or when you knew something or your guesses about other people. In response to your first question, I'm not sure that I've commented on "mainstream liberal politicians" connection to Alinsky except for H. Clinton and the Bamster.

It sure was a good time to be a bigoted white man, that's for sure.

Well a wealthy one anyways.

But he might like that period of time for its music or something.

Or maybe he just really liked the Truman Administration.

Well, let's see. Have you read the book by Saul Alinsky? I have. If you have not, then you are basically doing what, expressing your ignorance?

If you have, did you find nothing wrong with his ideas?

Oh, by the way....your link doesn't really show much, if any, comprehension of these concepts.

Finally...why should I or anyone else care to educate you?
Expressing ignorance? Seriously, MHaze. You put your foot in your mouth here. But I shall wade through the next multiple pages before commenting further.

Except to say that is, Rules for Radicals is about how to effect change, not how to be a commie. I doubt you know that, however.

So, Alinsky's tactics have to be marginalized into "Alinsky Lite" in order to find a connection between them and what the Republicans do, but Obama is following Alinsky's rules so closely that it's perfectly accurate to label him an "Alinsky-style radical"?

I find that rather....dubious.

Everything the current republicons say about Saul Alinksy is due to the fact that they are using his tactics as hard and harshly as they can in order to break down the system so they can replace it with a Christian Taliban.

Next question?
This is pretty close.

Well, let me translate that. If I may.

It's the day of the internet, and I can instantly download ebooks or get them down the street at the bookstore, or buy them for a buck or two off ebay and they arrive in two days. It's so nice that I can get much of Alinsky's work off of the Internet, or get the books he wrote in a couple of days. But I'm really lazy, so I just expect some guy on an internet forum to answer all my questions for me. That works pretty well. But yeah, every now and then one of them doesn't cooperate, even when we insult him and call him a liar and stoopid. Geez, what to do?

It's just not fair.

He's a "have (info)" and we da "have not (info)". And I knows Alinsky dude said we Have Nots gets to take stuff from the Haves. So what's with this, it crazy. He won't tell us all those details about what Alinsky said about how to take away his stuff. But he should it ain't fair. And we needs to knows that stuff. Why won't he tell us all that stuff so then we knows it? What, he expect us to work or something? Like, read stuff or pick up books and open them or move fingers on keyboards? Hell, we ain't gonna do that we better than that and smarter it's those Haves do that stuff and we just git free stuff from Haves.

We knows that free stuff is so fine, dude.

;)
And translated back into English...

"Even though multiple people in this thread have quoted, cited, and produced the book, mhaze *still* refuses to discuss it, while projecting that onto everyone else."

For years, the only time I ever heard of Alinsky was when mhaze waved his name about in an opaque manner. Since then, I noticed Alinsky mentioned by David Horowitz and Glenn Beck, solidifying my impression that these references are inane straw men of some kind or another.
"Rules for Radicals" and "Steal This Book" were both popular literature back in the day..., whoops, er, not my day, I'm much younger. :o

That's an interesting writing style you're using, mhaze. Unfortunately, I don't seem to recognize it as a satire or parody of the style used by anyone posting in this thread.

What sort of person were you pretending to write/speak as, using the style and dialect above?

I'm honestly curious.

Teabaggers only care about fiscal issues. They are not, in any way, motivated by race. They don't even SEE race. They are post-racial. You're the REAL racist for even asking this question.

Well, let me translate that. If I may.

{snip bizarre, racist um, whatever the hell that was}

I don't know what that performance art was supposed to be, or what the above sentence had to do with what I wrote, so congratulations wasting even more time on this thread instead of ******* or getting off the pot.

And I'm still confused is one supposed to **** or not and get off the pot or sit there petulantly. Which is the Alinsky tactic!!!
