While reading some discussions about 9/11, I have to ask something.

Why do some rednecks claim such stupid things, even when we show proofs and unreliability of their claims?

What's the point for the troofers to prove that the WTC7 was brought down by a controlled demolition, or that the Pentagon has been struck by a missile? What will they become if they can prove that it is indeed a conspiracy (Fortunately, it is hardly probable) ?

Every time I asked that question on other boards, none of the troofers cared to answer...

To respond to the OP, I think they just don't care. Denialism is about giving the illusion that there is a debate going on, that there's something wrong about these events, just creating a doubt in people's minds is enough for them.

It's not about the truth, or getting to the truth. They just want to be able to deny these events.

Maybe it is some kind of "Don Quixote" syndrome, that has them fighting the windmills. I don't know for sure, I am not a veterinarian. :)

Truthers are conspiracy theorists. Conspiracy theorists are just egoists who have no other talent or skill to make themselves 'special' in their own mind.

Conspiracy theories are the opiates of the self-impressed.

Think about it. To be a Conspiracy Theorist, you really don't need to work very hard. Especially in the case of troothers where investigoogling is as far they ever get. But with a few minutes of 'research' on conspiracy sites, a few posts on nutter forums, and all of a sudden you are super internet warrior who 'knows' so much better than all the sheeple around you. Even if you are a minor player in the movement you are a big shot in your own mind because you 'know'. Now you can walk around, and even chat online with a handful of other special folks who 'know'.

And you didn't even have to work that hard.

When you think you are special, you want to try and hold onto that feeling. Its like an jock from high-school some 15 years later who is fat, balding and a failure in life. But he can sure tell you about that game he won in his Senior year.

Underlying disgruntlings may lead to what CT gets chosen, although most CTers rarely stick with just one theory...its like eating one potato chip.

Truthers mostly seem to be born of adolescent impotent rage. A lot of folks go through it on their way through early life. Truthers just seem determined to get one more step above their fellows who protest against to war, and they don't care how stupid they look in the process. Remember, they 'know' the truth that mere anti-war protesters do not.

Rednecks? Unless this is a general term for stupid people, I can assure you very few rednecks are truthers. Most of the ones I know are Bush supporters and vote Republican.

Truthers who are Bush supporters who vote Republican? That's far out, man! :eye-poppi

1. Hatred for authority, and in particular govt.
2. Elevation of ones own importance in life, due to a lack of such in the real world. Being a member of a group that is trying to bring down the big nasty NWO has a "Tom Clancy" effect on them. See matrix references within truther lore.

TAM:)

"Truthers" are convinced that if they can prove just one thing wrong with the "official story" that the whole thing will come down in faster than freefall speed. They're like the IRA; they think they only have to be right once, while the government has to be right on everything.

Thanks for all your answers :) I understand better their bevahior.

And yup, "rednecks" was a generic term for stupid people. :p
