He will have plenty of time in the up-state funny farm to just stand at a balcony and rant to the imaginary crowds.

Yeah, and they can be massive crowds; just the biggest and best, record crowds ever!

In as neutral of terms a possible.

Honestly the dude is already 73, he doesn't take care of him self, and the Presidency is stressful. I wouldn't be shocked at all if his physical and mental health is already pretty much in freefall. If prison isn't the cards for Trump a hospital/retirement home to live out his last few years in pretty poor shape might be.
I doubt very wealthy folk do that. In home care. I'm sure he has enough money for that.

Fair point.

But adjust my post to "In permanent care of some type" and I think my scenario is pretty plausible.

I'm suddenly having a vision. It's the middle of the night. One or more of his children are walking toward his bed, pillows in hand, quietly singing "Inheritance ... inheritance ...inheritance ..."

Trump will continue to live the life of privilege and luxury he has all of his life.

From the peace and quiet of his room. Where his children never visit. With his bowl of ground up Adderall to snort and his bottled water to dribble and his imaginary enormous ratings to blather on about and his golden toilet to . . . never mind.

I also think that President Trump will become a totem for the Republican Party for a generation or more. In the same way that Saint Ronnie has been viewed for the last 30 years or more as the model of a modern Republican President, Donald Trump will become the template for the next generation and will be venerated as such.

His success will generate a succession of populist GOP leaders who will use similar tactics of whipping up a fanatical base to try to win elections. Any legal proceedings will be portrayed as the actions of a desperate Democratic Party trying to tarnish his legacy. If any of those proceedings are successful he will become a Conservative martyr.

Not so sure ...
Trump is not a character type that can arise within a party - without his Outsider Status, Trump wouldn't have made the nomination.
A party can't really plan to have a steady stream of demagogic outsiders at its helm.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Republicans have managed to mythologize Reagan, a California Governor, actor, and head of a labor union, while at the same time railing against Hollywood East Coast Liberals.

Never underestimate the power of the Retcon.

The GOP often finds a way. One would be to have Ivanka as the next candidate. She has excellent provenance and is also an outsider.

Ivanka might have a chance because Republicans are so short on women and the Kushners will always want political cloud - and they won't lose all their money because of tax and bank fraud.

Damn, the obvious choice isn't in the poll: he'll upload his consciousness into Twitter and post forever there.

a simple program could already generate an endless number of Trump Tweets - no need to bother with any other bits of his mind, especially since it is far from clear that he actually possesses Theory of Mind.

He'll probably write (or ghost write) a book about how great his two term presidency was, go back to managing his real estate empire and maybe start his own cable news network.
