What will the Conservatives new "EU policy" be?

What was wrong with a trading block of countries harmonising how it deals with such rights?

Nothing. The problem is the way it has done it. Extending copyright beyond life+50 (minium required by the bern convention) was a serious mistake. Introducing resale rights into a common law juristiction makes little sense and causes problems with the right to make contracts.

OK - then it is not so much that it's from the EU but that the details were wrong (I agree with you in regards to that).

Was thinking about my own question and one of the things I am not happy about is the EU arrest warrant; in principle I support it but the practical implementation concerns me as the legal systems and laws across the various EU countries are not sufficiently consistent. They should not, for example, be used when the person is accused of a crime that is not a crime in the country they have fled to.
