WaPo got their hands on Donald's acceptance speech. The theme is fear.

And we have no idea as to how old this draft is. No secret that speeches of this kind are rewritten up to the last minute.
I can't believe that Donald will not make some attempt to walk back his NATO comments, which even a lot of Republicans are blasting him for.

No way does he walk it back during this speech. He's created chaos which he loves and this is kind of essential to the point that the US assumes too large a burden militarily and its time for other nations to step up.
One of the few things I agree with him on. I just think he is going about it in the wrong way.

It's such a dark speech. It reflects the mood of the GOP which seems to despair for their future. The Democrats really need to focus on a positive message.

So Donald is going to "build the roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, and the railways of tomorrow" and "completely rebuild our depleted military" all while giving huge tax cuts.

His outreach to the LGBT community is dumb. Donald says he will protect the LGBT community from a hateful foreign ideology just not the domestic one he's the head of.

Not without also introducing a note of hope and opitimism... FDR and Reagan's acceptance speeches started out painting a dark picture of the mess America was in;but then introduced hope and optimism "We have Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" and "Morning IN America"). The problem with the Trump speech is that althought it makes a few lame attempts to do that,it in the end fails.

THe trick is to start with chaos and fear, but then turn to hope and optimism. That is what,as we have it, the Trump speech does not do.
