Some tidbits of my time sacrificing brain cells by watching three hours of Fox' Fair and Balanced Coverage. Four hours if you count my early morning show watch fifteen hours ago - last night my time.

The early hours: This would be when you could like cover some "news", what with being a news station and all. Instead, they homogenize the previous night's event and congratulate each other on how swell it was going, how impressed the crowd was with Trump Kid I or Trump Kid II, and interview other Fox presenters to find out how swell they think it's going.

I have to admit I missed the live coverage of Cruz and the beginning of the Georgia Salamander's speech. That segued to what I first thought was the Cleveland Norovirus. Turns out it was Paul Ryan introducing Pence. No time for any commentary so they just kept the camera running. The aftermath was the usual studio stooges talking about how moving and forthright his nothing of a speech was.

They cut away to the phony phocus group and had ten of them say they were much happier with the ticket now that Pence is on board. Faint praise indeed. He didn't ask them if they were voting Trump, saved that for later in the evening.

And on comes Hannity. a.k.a. The Trump Family Hour. Newt must've stood up to Sean and said, "I'm leaving in fifteen minutes, so you lead with me or I'll see you another night", because Hannity led with him but then went into almost a full hour of sucking up to the Trump kids. Softball questions, probably scripted by Michelle Obama Mantafort, mostly consisting of Sean feeding them leads and then grinning with admiration when they gave wishy-washy answers, none of which showed Donald to be any more human than their weak speeches did.

In his second hour, Hannity gets on message:

Noticeably lacking was any discussion of whether this might harm Trump. It's like if they just ignore it, the elephant won't eat up all the peanuts.
> How wonderful it is that Pence is such a wonderfully conservative candidate. Not just Hannity, but his entire Greek Chorus of commentators agree that it's conservative nirvana.
Noticeably lacking was any discussion of Pence's repressive anti-gay and anti-choice agenda. Apparently it doesn't exist.

He then cut away to their "undecided" voter group, again. This time was far more informative. Several of the "undecided" voters seemed to be able to recite every HDS talking point from our several threads. We all know that a panel of "undecided" voters who show up on Fox are "undecided" only to get on the show. They are all conservatives to start with. But Fox thinks the whole world is conservative, so believe this is a fair sampling.

Unlike the earlier segment, though, this one showed dissent among the conservatives. While ten of the nineteen[I believe] panelists had earlier said that Pence's inclusion made them move closer to Trump, this time only seven said they were voting for Trump. They also asked them how they felt about Cruz's little performance, and almost all of them said it was admirable. Apparently the hard-line conservative fundies are not lining up behind Trump in the numbers they hope for.

The final segment was the nutsy holy roller hour. Duck Daddy was on, plugging the new movie coming out, made by the Citizens United team, along with one of Sean's pet black preachers.... I thought they'd be praisin' the lord and rolling in the aisles but they never quite got there.

Conclusion: The RNC and Fox are tone deaf. The only take-away they have from Cruz's non-endorsement is that it's political suicide for Cruz. They are completely unaware that it's an assassin's bullet into Trump. They also have no understanding that the electorate is not so crazy-right as they are. Hannity was telling his willing stooges, with great glee, that "this is the most conservative platform I've ever seen" and praising Pence's inclusion on the ticket for the same reason.... "most conservative candidate I've ever seen on the national ticket".
 
Is Laura Ingraham well-respected? I saw here while Mom was watching Fox and she didn't appear to be horrible. Very quick inspection but she seemed fairly likeable.

To be brutally honest, if she was the GOP candidate instead of her husband, they would be in with half a chance. She speaks multiple languages, thinks before she speaks, and can actually finish sentences that make sense. I don't think she is entirely stupid - she made it to university even if she didn't finish. If she had half-decent PR staff to manage the message properly, as most politicians try to have, she could perhaps be a fair politician. ;)
 
Can I just ask anyone who was brave enough to see it directly: Has there been ANY mention of Trump's proposed policies as president? Any details in that regard? Identifying and addressing issues? That is, besides "NOBAMA!! and "Clinton! Benghazi!!11!" and "Make America White Again!". Because I'm beginning to suspect the whole schemozzle from breaking jumbotrons to white supremacist rants is being staged to distract from this highly salient point.

That Melania cribbed from Michelle so extensively is actually kind of encouraging. Raised to mean what she says, to treat people with with civility, to believe in hard work etc. You won't hear Donald saying anything like that - or if he did, even the low-information voters would note the hypocrisy.

She seems well spoken and is a fairly accomplished woman.
 
On the donor suite level, people approached Cruz and insulted him, a source told CNN's Dana Bash. One state party chairman reacted so angrily that he had to be restrained.

Cruz, who has long sought the support of GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson, was turned away when he tried to enter Adelson's suite.

Andy Abboud, a senior aide to the Las Vegas casino magnate, said Cruz was initially invited to come up to visit the Adelsons, but when he failed to endorse Trump the invitation was rescinded.
"When he didn't endorse, they were stunned and disappointed," Abboud told CNN.

They didn't even manage get Mike Pence's speech on and finished before 11PM EST. They're counting on networks staying with it and people not turning off their TVs but TV turn-off rate rises precipitously with every minute past 11PM.
