What will Gary Johnson do if he wins?

Ah I read Trebuchet's post as saying he'd fit in OK with the GoP, not more acceptable than a republican.
Oh, I think you're right about Trebuchet's meaning (though he of course can correct me if I'm wrong). I was just agreeing with you. :)

Sure, except he is pro choice, pro gay marriage, for ending the "war on drugs", against the patriot act, racial profiling, and wants to cut the defense budget by 43%.

Hmm, maybe I need to look into him a bit more.

You are correct, although based on your previous post the latter is looking true also.

Precisely. I'd rate him as [formerly] being pretty good for a Republican (though I still wouldn't vote for him with a gun to my head) but if I was a Republican true believer I'd find him wholly unacceptable. There's a reason he's now running for President a second time as a Libertarian, and that's because there's no chance he'd make it out of Iowa and New Hampshire as a Republican.

Are you liberal? Do you like like Republicans or libertarians more?

The same thing Cubs fans do after they win the World Series. Turn off the XBox.

Of course he couldn't, but it's what he wants and anyone considering voting for him should understand that if Gary had his druthers he would destroy this country with his desired policies.

I think there is enough support to roll back medicaid heavily in the republican party to kill tens of thousands of people a year. Plenty of republican governors fought expanding medicare and saving the lives of their citizens after all.

Ending medicare would hit the republican base too hard to get through congress.

Exactly he is hardly the darling of the hardcore libertarians in the party, he thinks it is acceptable for the government to require people get a licence to drive on public roads after all.

Government programs look great if you look at half the ledger. But the source of funds are so ethically challenging and the side effects si damaging to cost more than the benefits.

And what is half the ledger here? Where are the tens of thousands of deaths annually that are being caused by the ACA?

There are other consequences besides death but deaths come from fewer available medical professionals driven out by low Medicaid reimbursement caused by artificially low reimbursement. It comes from mandates for preexisting conditions that drive up the costs for everyone.

Plus, maybe we are saving too many lives? It is like seatbelts on school buses. If we installed them,. We would save some lives each year.but the extreme costs of missed gains by using those resources other places hurts society as a whole.

Yes, yes. Any outcome that results from government spending or government regulation is bad, and evidence doesn't matter. We get it.

You made two statements that completely contradict either, neither of which you supported with evidence.

Sorry, Bob, there's no strawman there.

What statements contradict eachother?

Also, this thread is a general f@#$ around. I don't see it is necessary to cite among friends.

For the record, there are plenty of things government does where benefits outweigh the costs. The only problem in those cases is it is merely unethical.

To the first question:

This is a statement that absolutely requires evidence to be taken seriously in any way...and it contradicts the following:
Plus, maybe we are saving too many lives? It is like seatbelts on school buses. If we installed them,. We would save some lives each year.but the extreme costs of missed gains by using those resources other places hurts society as a whole.
In addition, your statement about what "would" happen if seatbelts were [required to be] installed on school buses is obviously straight out of a rectum, though if you have evidence I would love to see it.

Finally, I can assure you that I do not consider you a friend.
