What might be just as bad (or worse) than carbon dioxide?

Researchers warn of nitrogen hazard to environment (AP)

...

"The public does not yet know much about nitrogen, but in many ways it is as big an issue as carbon, and due to the interactions of nitrogen and carbon, makes the challenge of providing food and energy to the world's peoples without harming the global environment a tremendous challenge," University of Virginia environmental sciences professor James Galloway said in a statement.

...

Next up: Nitrogen offsets for farmers who insist on destroying the planet by fertilizing their fields. They must pay.

It's a proven fact that oxygen supports combustion. Combustion is what happens when your house burns down.

Think about nitrogen the next time you open a bag of potato chips. It's that explosive pocket of gas that makes the chips fly everywhere when the seal finally gives way.

What I wonder is why we so seldom hear environmentalists talking about DHMO. This is much worse stuff than carbon dioxide. It's far more significant a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, and all other greenhouse gases combined. On top of that, it has some other very nasty characteristics. In liquid form, it is a major cause of death by asphyxiation. In both solid and gaseous forms, it can cause severe tissue damage on contact. It's heavily used in the manufacture of chemical and biological weapons. Our atmosphere, our oceans, and all our rivers and lakes and waterways are polluted with it.

DHMO has a greater impact on this planet, and upon life hereon, than any other pollutant; yet environmentalists ignore it, as if it doesn't even exist; and go on and on about other pollutants whose impacts are insignificant compared to DHMO.

You can learn more about this nasty pollutant at this URL: http://www.dhmo.org/

Anyone feel like addressing what he actually said?

[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif] "We are accumulating reactive nitrogen in the environment at alarming rates, and this may prove to be as serious as putting carbon dioxide in the atmosphere," said Galloway, author of a paper and co-author of a second on the topic in Friday's issue of the journal Science.
While nitrogen alone is inert and harmless, reactive nitrogen compounds - such as ammonia - have been released by its use in nitrogen-based fertilizers and the large-scale burning of fossil fuels.
