What is White Trash?

When I was in college, I worked at a Walmart in Mississippi (close to the tennessee border). I can't define white trash but I know it when I see it.

Its attitude and the behaviour in societies standards that defines trash

Anything that smacks of a lack of manners, a lack of class, a lack of morals

it is not a white thing it is not a black thing

its plain ignorance and many people suffer from it

However it is a society ideology as we are basically animals with elevated self imposed rules and standards the term only really means anything if your willing to forget mans beastial roots

WTF??? So having a feminised son who cant react naturally to fear or a threat without being plied with sedatives qualifies as being trash

Consider me and most of the world trash then as for one instance combined with other elements aggression dictates alpha males and alpha males are part of the back bone of society
 
There's an ongoing documentatry on Canadian white trash called "Trailer Park Boys". I'm not sure if it's available (yet) in the states.

In my earliest recollection of the term, which would have been in the '50s, it was a derogatory term for someone displaying rude, or obnoxious behavior in public, and the 'white' part was added to indicate that the speaker did not consider such traits to be exclusive to people of color.
At the time, the less progressive put down for uncouth behavior would have been to compare the person to another race, as in Robert Byrd's 'white n****r' comments.

Now, the term seems to have the usage of putting down all members of a group for not being as well off or as refined as the speaker.

Ha ha! It's not a documentary, but it's the most realistic "mockumentary" I've ever seen.
It's made in the place where I grew up, and I swear I know some of those characters.

By the way, I don't really agree with this part of the "definition":

And after that word came out, we'd see young high-school punks with their gangsta gear and riced up cars, and we would call them "wiglets". :D

No more than any other unpalatable person in this world.
 
- There was a picture on one of the Ann Coulter fansites out there that showed her sitting on the front steps of a trailer, dirt road on the left and matted grass, mangy dog in the background, rifle in her lap. She was wearing shorts and a tube top.

- I closed my eyes, and the words WHITE TRASH floated in front of them... they were burned like that for a week afterwards.

- I'm looking for that pic right now.

- I don't! I only put a bullet in front of new paragraphs. :)

- It's a holdover from back before most boards had the QUOTE feature, and people would use any number of things to denote someone else speaking. I started using bullets like this to make it easier to recognize my own posts when someone quoted me.

I don't always use them.

- But it's like smoking, it's hard to quit.
