What is Derek parfit view on continuity personal identity

I think Parfit is saying that we only have psychological continuity unless your brain is split into 2 than you become 2 people and it becomes complicated.
Or am I wrong and is he a bundle theorist?

There is no continuity except for the body. We have memories which are a sort of continuity, but that is about it.

The continuity depends on the scale you want to look at.

It sounds like someone is playing out some thought experiments about identity. Such things don't always have defined truth values. Others are trivial. OF COURSE dissecting a brain results in pieces of brain rather than a brain, barring technology to put the pieces back together. Since I don't know of any researcher who makes a justifiable claim to understand how human consciousness works, it's rather difficult to take parts off till conciousness ends, then hold up a part and say 'this was where it lived'. Try taking parts off a car until it doesn't run anymore. The part you're wrenching on when the car goes crump was the part in which the car's ability to run lived, yesno?

Please forgive me for not remembering the source but haven't there been cases in the past of people who have had the bridge between the left and right hemispheres of the brain severed? I seem to recall that while those poor folks did have some linguistic difficulties they did not somehow separate into two different personalities.

Or am I taking this whole discussion too literally?

Dancing David said that parfit doesn't believe in continuity of the self but I think he does and I have proof.

"note that Parfit believes (i) that our persistence consists in physical and/or psychological continuity;"

Am I correct?

.
Look up brain separation and get back to us.
Has it ever accomplished anything, severing the brain connections between the hemispheres?

Severing the brain connections between 2 hemispheres can cure epilepsy.

Am I correct that Parfit believes in persistence of physical and psychological continuity?
