Truthers are not even realizing that the man Alex Jones(that they blindly follow) is just the same as their so called "enemies". All Alex Jones wants to do is rack in the cash with his BS lies. When he feels like one lie is dying down he will stray from it and make up a new one. Not to mention, if Martial Law were coming and we were all going to be enslaved and/or murdered, why would Alex Jones need a store to sell his own T-Shirts and other crap like that? What does he need that money for?

I don't know why but sometimes I honestly feel bad for some of them. They are wasting their life in paranoia and flat out lies.

They aren't the same, I think. Alex Jones is obviously a good, capitalist, who only wants good things - and your money. The NWO wants to control you body and soul, not your money. What good is more money to people who already control all of it?!

Note: I in no way believe any of the above - except where AJ wants your money, I'm sure that's true.

This is something that I have always wondered about when it comes to the CT fear mongers who have a following:

If the fear mongers and doomsday prophets really believe what they are saying, and they really think the NWO/Martial Law/the Apocalypse/whatever is right around the corner, why aren't they giving everything away? Why are they charging you US dollars - which they claim will within days/weeks/months become worthless fiat green paper - if they will soon have no value? Why are they not requiring everything be paid for by gold bullion (since the fear mongers are almost always gold bugs)?

Sadly, no CT has ever been able to provide answers to these questions.

You know i have had the following statement called a straw man on multiple occasions. But i stand by it.

I see Ct's the same way i see cryptozoology, and to an extent certain claims of paranormal manifestation.

If you believe there are things out there ( whether it be the chupacabra, the killer squid, harmfull ghosts, a giant evil group, etc. ) that are posing an immediate and sever danger to people. Why not , actually do something about it?

Cryptids are one of the best analogies to the evils of the " nwo" out there. Many people claim the cryptids kill, harm, or otherwise molest people. But when exactly do you see a group of people pulling a " The A-Team" loading up on guns and ammo, taking this thing out and then showing us all how dumb we were?

In the same vein these fear mongers are always saying how the nwo is doing this and they know where the bilderburg group is, and where the fema death camps are. Well i am sorry but if i thought a fascist takeover was looming, i wouldn't spend my time advertising how i am against them. And attempting to get money. I and any rational person, if they had this earth crushing information, would quietly rally a small army and take back the world that has been taken from us. Or at least make the attempt, i believe the quote is " every man is guilty of all the good he did not do.". And if these conspiracies were correct, well alex jones et all are guilty of a lot more than simple money grubbing.

But luckily for Alex , he is full of it. And instead of being what could only be described as the biggest coward on earth, he is simply another huckster spinning tears into gold.

Straw man.

Yes. There are plenty of real problems in the world without fighting fictions and fearing fantasies.

No, that's probably my sister. Which board is she terrorizing now?

Are you also Handy Hans?

Well yeah if I knew for a fact that some guys were going to show up at my door at 4 A.M, and haul me off to some Camp, where I'd be tortured and/or killed, then I would be doing something about it.

Honesty though,I used to believe that type of thing and I would get so worried it became a routine for me to wake up at 4 A.M. to look outside. One day though it just kind of clicked into my head how illogical the entire story is. Eventually I started gaining my sanity back and here I am now lol.

Freaky! Glad you recovered.

My condolences. I'm glad you're better.
I don't think the vast majority of CTers are that paranoid, though...even though such paranoia would be rational, if what they believed were true. Most of the CTers I meet are what I call "hobby conspiracists", who believe these things because it makes their lives more interesting, or because it makes them feel smarter and better than other people. It really doesn't impact their day-to-day lives very much.

Unfortunately, there are a few whose lives get messed up by these theories. These are the real victims of people like Alex Jones.

You are to be commended for pulling yourself out of the rabbit hole! :)

A good point and excellent food for thought. I would add for the Hobby Conspiracists, that even though it doesn't impact their day-to-day lives much, it gives them something to rant about, which I think is another motivation for being "believers" (to whatever extent) in the CTs. Some people like to have stuff to rant about, and some of them want it to be as "way out there" as possible.

And perhaps belief in CTs functions as a weird way to try to insulate themselves from real-world problems or personal concerns.

How many "truthers" actually follow Mr Jones, blindly or otherwise?

That'd be interesting to find out. All of the ones I've met do, with possibly one exception. The very first truther I met had his doubts about Jones, but I don't think he was ready to condemn him.

Even now, when I meet somebody who's a truther, they'll use Alex Jones as their primary source. I don't think anybody knows what Loose Change was anymore, but Alex is still going strong.

I mainly got wrapped up in the whole mess because it was literally all thrown at me all at once so I really did not know what to think about the entire mess. The very first thing that was exposed to me was the whole"NWO" thing and the "Global Slavery" deal.

Although, I am still not sure why I believed everything I heard though. That may remain a mystery.Either way, Alex Jones cannot be trusted. Even if I was still in "Woo" mode I think knowing me I would still see him as suspicious. Mainly because of the fact he says he gets his evidence from "Secret Websites".

What i don't understand about truthers is how they seem to think that everyone can be as easily fooled by their constant lying, dishonest tactics and over the top arrogance, as they themselves are.

It's a need they have to fuel their own arrogance and their opinion of their own intelligence. They believed the nonsense straight away, and they aren't stupid, so therefore everyone else is stupid (or in on it) for not believing straight away. It's the lie they need to tell themselves to keep their world from crumbling around them, from facing the reality that they've been duped by a glorified carny with a shortwave radio show and about 400 websites.
