Sheesh, I unexpectedly read through this whole thread.
I do get frustrated that Pixy Misa is so right, and yet millions if not billions of people believe in reincarnation, probably including many otherwise skeptics.
To some extent religion poisons everything: we often look for one white crow among the black to confirm a hope that our beliefs are true - but the reality is a huge industry called religion, tirelessly dedicated to manufacturing proof of white crows, or better yet 'white crows'. With this comes power and influence for many people who would otherwise need to find a real job.
One thing I think might be a misconception - Reincarnation is not necessiarly about belief in migration of souls, but is more tied into belief in a shared consiousness or pantheism.
To that view, a brain is a unique receiver/transmitter/computer that manifests the "self" as a physical, visible part of this great cloud of common consiousness. When you die, your MAC address is freed up, and your self is available to manifest itself in another brain. With proper care of your operating system your next life manifestation will be a Mac Powerbook rather than a Windows Netbook.
It is really easy to hijack technology and science ideas to promote woo.
