The U.S. Council for World Freedom aided rebels trying to overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua. That landed the group in the middle of the Iran-Contra affair and in legal trouble with the Internal Revenue Service, which revoked the charitable organization's tax exemption.
The council created by retired Army Maj. Gen. John Singlaub was the U.S. chapter of the World Anti-Communist League, an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America. After setting up the U.S. council, Singlaub served as the international league's chairman.

Charlie Black, McCain's senior adviser, has worked for Ferdinand Marcos; Somalia dictator, Mohamed Siad Barre; Zaire's dictator, Mobuto Sese Seko; Angolan rebel and murdeder Jonas Savimbi; and the brutal regime of Brig. Gen. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in Equatorial Guinea.

Other examples of McCain associates with ties to murderous regimes, human rights violators and dictators include Frank Donatelli, Rick Davis, Kevin Fay, Peter Madigan, Wayne Berman, and Kirsten Chadwick.

Does that make them less unsavory?

Remember, the name of the game (with Ayers and Rev. Wright) is strictly guilt by association. This puts McCain just two degrees of separation from some seriously bad guys.

Just pointing out that McCain has "palled around with" some pretty shady characters.

The point is, that Palin has all but called Obama an America-hating terrorist with no more rationale than saying McCain is connected to right-wing death squads in Latin America. McCain and Palin have got people calling Obama a terrorist and hollering out for his death at their rallies these days.

Do you agree that her comments about Obama and Ayers are a bunch hooey also?
