What do I stand to get from Buddhism?

I invite the Buddhists in this forum to enlighten me as to when I will be rid of suffering with and through Buddhism.

Again???????

hmm

You need to WAKE UP.

Thats it.

Read your own threads, the old ones (I spent a long time out of the forum, so I dont know if you have insisted in this "critics" of yours.)

Sad thing is, they can never know for sure when they will attain Nirvana let alone whether Nirvana exists or not.

You might be better off trying to meet the next spaceship when Hale Bop comes around again.

Huh? LOL! Are you ignorant on purpose? You are right in ONE thing; to understand what is Nirvana you have to see it. So, there you are, you will be lost for sometime.

I was selling hotdogs off a cart downtown. There was abig Buddhist convention going on.
Two monks come up to my cart and one says
"Make me one with everything they were all giggly and stuff ( Do monks drink martinis?)
Anyway I play it cool make his dog hand it to him.
He hands me a twenty and I put it in my tray.
After a minute or so he goes
"hey! My change!"
I say
" Change must come from within."

Hi Dancing , thank you.
I get called a troll too. But this is the first stimulating group of forums I have encountered ( not that I looked) so I'm gonna stick around as long as I am able.

I highly doubt you will be dubbed a troll here. But Yrreg, he just says the same things over and over and over, then he cites himself a lot.

he likes to pretend he is other people as well, so he can quote himself. he denied that he is a christian but then admits it over at infidels.

But in terms of trolls he is a rather tame one.

Let the events develop in that thread of mine:

In re: Pachomius aka Yrreg being banned from the IIDB.

I will attend meanwhile to my main fun here, the examination of Buddhism from the standpoint of critical thinking as a rational skeptic.

Okay, Ryokan, Dancing David, and all Buddhists here and Buddhism sympathizers, let us all go to the benefits obtained by embracing and practicing Buddhism, benefits namely on this side of the grave.

You see, it is inane to discuss about benefits on the other side of the grave; being all of us here presumably skeptics, there is so far no way we can know what is our existence if any on the other side of the grave, on the ground of evidence and logic acceptable to rational skeptics; so please let us not not bother about benefits on the other grave of the grave.

Here, tell me, Buddhists and Buddhism sympathizers here, what have you obtained or attained or enjoyed so far of decrease in all kinds of sufferings on this side of the grave?

Name just five (5) concrete instances of decrease in suffering on all levels and domains of human existence and life, on this side of the grave, experienced by Buddhists and Buddhism sympathizers.

Yrreg

I have stated my views many times, so this stime I will pass, on specifics. The benefits are what they are, if you don't agree that they exist that is fine.I for one have never said that they are exclusive to buddhism. Yet in following the eightfold path I have had a decrease in my suffering. When i was a christian , I seemed to suffer more and hurt more.

I have had many benefits, mainly a way of decreasing the overall stress in my life. In many many situations, detachment is very useful. So five or more per day for me. My mother for example, bless her, is a wonderful person, but she is very capable of making some really poor choices. In talking to her it helps to stay detached.
