I came across an interview with author Anthony DePalma, who has written a book titled 'City of Dust', in which he investigates the health effects from exposure to dust from the collapses of the World Trade Center on 9/11, 2001.

Some further research uncovered this study, published in the Environmental Health Perspectives, Journal of the NIEHS, titled:
'Case Report: Lung Disease in World Trade Center Responders Exposed to Dust and Smoke'

'Case presentation: In this report we describe clinical, pathologic, and mineralogic findings in seven previously healthy responders who were exposed to WTC dust on either 11 September or 12 September 2001, who developed severe respiratory impairment or unexplained radiologic findings and underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgical lung biopsy procedures at Mount Sinai Medical Center. WTC dust samples were also examined.'
This study examines not only the pathology of lung disease in several cases, but correlates it carefully to the composition of WTC Dust:
'Seven DS [Dust Samples] collected at different sites of the WTC (generously provided by R. Nolan, Environmental Sciences, City University of New York) were also observed by analytic electron microscopy for the presence of structures, particularly CNT.' (Carbon nanotubes)
A summary of the mineralogic analysis in correlation with pathologic features
Elsewhere, some 92% 14,000 New York City firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) workers who responded to the 9/11 attacks have had their lung function measured by researchers.

This information is of vital importance in terms of showing causation and determining the value of insurance settlements for those injured by the dust.
Federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein in March 2010 rejected a proposed $575 million settlement, arguing that it was not enough to compensate.

That's a snapshot from the adult, competent world of research and litigation. Back in the fantasy world of 9/11 Truthers, people calling themselves 'research scientists' die their hair red and blame everything on mythical energy weapons powered by hurricanes, or super-secret silent explosives....
One thing we know for certain: these attention-seeking antics will not help the thousands of victims of 9/11, or their families. If anything they make a mockery of good science, a joke out of the suffering.
A joke which is in very poor taste, IMO.
