I don't have Andy's tolerance for social media, but this thread's worth a read. Former DNC chairman is VERY upset that mere voters are being disrespectful of "the people who make it possible." Turns out voting blue no matter who only swings in one direction after all, who'da thunk it?

Bluesky embedding is weird, link instead

Jaime Harrison thinks that the Democratic leadership should dissolve their voters and substitute new ones, apparently.

What "transgender stuff" did the Democrats do in 2024?

They deliberately shoved LGBTQ issues on the back burner and excluded trans people from visibility during that election cycle.

The Trump supporting alt-right media kept accusing Democrats of "cutting little boys' penises off" and spreading the lie that primary school teachers are somehow turning our children trans,. Meanwhile the Democrats kept silent on the issue instead of pushing back agaist the lies.

Too little, too late. People were already sick of being gaslighted by the left about trans issues.

Because they weren't lies.

This is what I mean about the gaslighting.

Show me one iota of evidence that anybody is "cutting little boys' penises off" and "turning children trans."

This being an international forum, it might surprise some posters here to learn that the first nationwide referendum on what they did (on that issue alone with many others) back in early 2021 did not take place until late 2024. Given the four-year cycle, it would be odd to expect voters to restrict themselves to considering policies implemented during election years.

It would also be odd to expect voters to forget what the Democratic party is into, or assume they've abandoned the position, just because they've "back burnered it" during an election cycle.

It would also be odd to assume that other progressive voices being very vocal about an issue wouldn't have implications in voters' minds for voting Democrat, even if the party itself was keeping quiet.

it wasn't as bad as what they were saying about the immigrants. that also resonated with a lot of the same voters as the trans stuff.

i agree that they didn't handle the attacks very well. being giant pushovers is extremely unappealing

Says the party that openly despises half the electorate for not being giant pushovers when it comes to voting Democrat.
No...the disdain is not about them not being giant pushovers, but about them being bigoted deplorable ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. And not really half the electorate...realistically more like a third or something.

Go easy on them! There are support groups for those guys now!
Some of them are much smarter than our resident Trumpanzees.

The irony is that taking voters seriously does both things. It's appealing to voters looking for sincere social change, and dismissive of voters looking for excuses to be racist.

Contrariwise, not taking voters seriously gives you Third Way thinking, feeling entitled to voters who "should" prefer you and thinking the best strategy for courting new demographics is to be a smugly inoffensive null hypothesis to every political stripe.

13 Moderate Democrats Reject Socialism On New ‘Promise To America’ Pledge (Yahoo, June 26, 2026)
Thirteen Democratic House members and candidates have signed onto a new centrist initiative called "Promise to America," explicitly declaring "We are capitalist, not socialist" and calling for secure borders, fiscal responsibility, and national pride. The announcement comes days after Democratic Socialists of America-backed candidates won several primaries in New York, bringing to light the ongoing tensions inside the Democratic Party as it prepares for the 2026 midterms under President Donald Trump.
They are members of the House, not the Senate, but I wonder if people like Fetterman aren't already considering joining them.

As for "We are capitalist, not socialist":
Bernie Sanders EXPOSES Wealth Inequality: One Man Owns 4x Bottom 50% –Workers vs. Billionaires Rally (The World on YouTube, June 23, 2026 – 11:30 min.)
Senator Bernie Sanders delivers a powerful address at the Workers vs. Billionaires Rally with the Machinists Union. He exposes massive wealth inequality, corporate greed destroying the American Dream, and the rigged system where billionaires like Elon Musk own more than the bottom 50% while workers struggle paycheck to paycheck. From stagnant wages despite productivity gains to AI/automation threats and union fights at Boeing, Apple, and beyond—Bernie calls for solidarity, dignity, and making billionaires pay their fair share.

I guess corporate interests are more important that=n their actual constituents. These are moderates? So basically the right-wing ecosystem is now the standard.
