My favorite retort from Zelensky, after the chumps chastised him for not wearing a suit: "Maybe when War is over I'll wear a costume too. Maybe like yours. Maybe a nicer one".

Not that interesting. The word for "suit" in Ukrainian sounds a lot like "costume", so it might just be a translation error on Zelensky's part.

"Costume" wasn't the fun part. The fun part was him being browbeat for being underdressed by a bunch of smacked asses that were dressed like bank tellers, yet thought a lot of their fashion.

I've seen Zelensky in an Italian suit (reddit has been reposting pics lately). The man has style, and doesn't look nearly as frumpy as our Executive snobs.

Huh. There you go. The Ukrainian word is "костюм" (kostyum). But the English word "costume" also has synonyms in words like "outfit" and "ensemble". Not an unreasonable thing to say, especially for a non-native English speaker.

Would be nice if someone put up a "Who wears it best" meme.

I guess we can add all this to the list of things Democrats did wrong: Not helping Ukraine get this resolved before the election.
We couldn't get this fixed before the election. Russia was deliberately tanking peace talks until after the 2024 Presidential eletion in the hopes of getting Trump, and once they had him...

I don't. I think the Dems did all they could with what they had. They didn't control the house for the second half of Biden's term. What were they supposed to do when the GOP has been turning it's back on Ukraine and not approving more funding. What, exactly, were they supposed to do?

Nope.
They did all they thought they could without rocking the boat.
That's not the same thing.

Russia is still tanking peace talks. Peace talks were never the right play. But this isn't the right thread for it. Suffice to say, Democrats should have supplied more aid faster while they had the chance.

Counterpoint: they did exactly what they did, because they thought it best. What alternative universe democrats might have done differently is maybe interesting from a creative writing approach, but hardly meaningful. The dems lost because of who and what they are in the here and now, and were outnumbered. There might have been three voters in the US who didn't know who democrats were and needed to be told. For the other many tens of millions, they knew, and let their voices be heard. A solid third, btw, by saying "◊◊◊◊ it".

the OP question was what they did wrong, not what they could have done to win.

Distinction without a difference. What else would 'wrong' mean if not failing to be victorious?

Also, I think you forgot to read the OP. The very first words are We lost the Election. Big Time. What did we do wrong?

Pretty much dead zero question that the OP equates wrong and losing.

imo what they did “wrong” would mean unforced errors. there’s many instances in which a person could do everything “right” and still lose something due to factors outside of their control

If the error was democrats just being themselves, what they did wrong becomes kind of a mean question.

I mean, a third of voters don't think the election was worth a few minutes to even participate in. Trying to work out how democrats could have MKULTRAed those few dip ◊◊◊◊◊ who couldn't decide is a lame attempt at gaming the system. If dems do their jobs, they wont need to worry about branding image so much. Their results will speak for themselves.

That's not at all an answer to my question. I asked what, exactly, they were supposed to do differently? About the only thing that comes to mind is that Biden could have allowed them to attack Russian targets in Russia significantly earlier. That's it. Other than that I'm still unsure of what the Dems could have done that would have prevented this from happening. Putin wasn't going to put his weapons down and leave and the GOP has been doing everything they can to change public perception of the war since about a year after it started.

It was Biden's last time in politics, he could easily have done some grand gesture beyond pardoning his son.
