Link is to Break.com. But not the NSFW area, so other than some dating services or such, it should be safe :)

They could be pure special effects, but I don't think so.

They resemble (slightly) some of the flying crafts that have been in the news recently, as getting near ready for sales. But I've not seen any of those fly more than up, and hover, then back down, with a tether attached.

The sound, assuming it's not some special effect, sounds like some kind of burner, and it looks like flames in several of the scattered circles on the underside, and in the center there appears to be a larger flame source.

Anyway, I doubt they came from anywhere further than a few thousand miles from anyone reading this, but really have no good idea what they are.

Ideas?

They have already been exposed (if you can trust the folks on "Attack of the Show" on G4 as special-effects products. In fact, they pointed out that the one tree appearing in the video clip is identical to the tree used on the cover of the commercial CGI program used, an "Easter egg" of sorts.

This video is probably part of a series of related viral advertisements for...something. I have no proof of this but that seems to be the blogosphere consensus based on analysis of the videos--shadows, voice overs etc.

(Sorry, I read a thread on these somewhere and it had links to all the videos in the series plus some pretty insightful comments about how they appear to be models or CGI, but I can't find the link in my history browser. Anyways, I'm no expert but if you watch the other videos I don't think you will conclude that these are actual commercial flying vehicles.)

Someone will link 'em I'm sure: There's a Paris one, a NY one and one or two others. Pretty cool lookin' and well made.

Halo 3, maybe?

Cool!

Knew there was a reasonable answer, I just couldn't come up with it :)

Thanks

I'll try google for some links, but with my luck, it will take someone else posting them here, for me to find them :boggled:

Like most every fraudulent video, these suffer from an utter lack of real human response in either the crowd, or the camera operator. I say it isn't viral marketing due to the complete lack of after effects, from the people who just shot the most remarkable footage ever known. They would be reacting like crazy, and wouldn't turn the camera off.

Or the marketing firm sucks.

Any real film maker knows that it isn't about the craft, the aliens, or even the end of the world, it is about people. All three of those horrible clips suffer from the C movie problem, bad acting, bad script, and bad directing.

So it is either dumb asses with CGI, or a really bad attempt at marketing. I can't believe any firm could be so bad and still be in business, so I vote for just bad hoax videos.

Plus none of the craft look similar. The software for the Haiti one is definitely Vue 6.

You can see the same palm tree in the demo clip on that site.

Which is very cool software btw.
