What about this crop circle?

Not to put a damper on the festivities, but I was wondering what the outcome of any studies regarding the alleged electromagnetic properties and other phenomena like the mico waved plant joints that would normally break and what not? I've never followed the CC thing with any interest, so I don't keep up on it much.

They're just mashed over plants. No special properties.

I'm guessing anyone who claims there are special EM properties or evidence that plant joints were microwaved (whatever that means) are doing what ghost hunters like to do: using some measurement device with the gain cranked up to the max and then trying to make something significant out of the noise the device reports.

Here's another how-to guide:

The best evidence is that it was made, as all crop circles are made, by joking humans. Otherwise, you'll have to believe that aliens use helicopters, English and ASCII code.

Just to clarify--nothing as sophisticated or expensive as a helicopter is needed to make these crop circles. (Or were you referring to the subsequent photographs taken from a helicopter?)

Thank you for nothing! And there is a circle in it! :p

Dont know why you need to be an idiot, but thats your problem... not mine.

You did not answer my questions either!

WOW, your update is worth NOTHING.. other than to make you look like a fool!

I'm late to the party but Akhenaten answered your questions. It's hardly his fault that you didn't understand the answers and being rude is never a good option.

It's all a bunch of hokum. Years ago I saw a video of a TV broadcast covering the appearance of a large, complex crop circle in Britain. They trotted out the local "expert" who proclaimed that something that complex couldn't possibly have been made by humans in a single night. He claimed that the way in which the plants were bent over couldn't possibly have been done using a board and some rope. It was physically impossible.

When he was finally shown the video of several young men making the crop circle, he just refused to believe that they had really done it. These people need to believe in an extraterrestrial explanation. It's their religion.

Religion is the socio-political expression of faith, which itself is the belief in improvable things.

Yep.

And the designs became more complex with the advent of computer graphics programs.

I suspect a lot of factors fuel increased complexity:
  • practice
  • experience
  • sharing of techniques
  • competitive attitudes
  • commercialization (monetization) of images

And the designs became more complex with the advent of computer graphics programs.

Are you suggesting that the appearance of crop circles based on fractal patterns in the '80s and the rise of the PC in that same decade wasn't a coincidence? I'm shocked!

Amen!

Same is true with the abduction and sex stories that seem to be stories that come out of night terrors. In another age the visitors were demons and sucubi and such. Nowadays, they're space aliens, but it's still basically a religious attribution for a relatively mundane occurence.

Hey--it just occurred to me that I could be wrong about most of these things not being the result of Photoshop. PS has a crop tool and a circle tool. . . .

ETA: If I make any more bad crop puns, it will surely stick in someone's craw.

ETA: And you can tell the crop circles I'm making these corny jokes about were all made near harvest time because they're all full-groan.

One of the websites I went to mentioned that locals had heard a helicopter the previous night.

I think all you really need is a pair of good boots. Planks, string, diagrams and time are all pretty much optional. ;)

You can scythe that again.

I for one am getting sickle tired of it.
