Whackjob Jim Traficant Running For Old Seat

So he has dusted off the old toupee and is having another go at it.

Wait, that's night right; that toupee doesn't looked dusted off at all.

He's always good for a laugh. It would almost be worth it to see him back in office.

This is the guy who blames a Jewish conspiracy for his conviction and prison stint.

I was under the impression that convicted felons could not hold public office....?

There is no such constitutional requirement. It is possible that congress could refuse to accept him. Remember the big controversy of if the Senate would accept Blago's appointee for Obama's seat?

If by some freak of fate Trafficant should win, I bet that the leaders of BOTH parties in the House are saying, "God, I hope he caucases with the other party".

Unless they need him for a majority. [Godwin]Then they'd caucus with Hitler.[/Godwin]

Yeah, but you can bet both parties will want nothing to do with him until then.
BTW I would not be surprised if the leaders of both parties go together and decided not to seat the guy.

It varies from state to state. If I read the laws correctly, a murderer in Tennessee would be barred from voting for life, but could run for election.

But what if there really was a Jewish conspiracy to put him in prison?

Ok, speaking as Official Representative of District 23 of the International Jewish-Communist-Capitalist-Freemason-Illuminati-Trilateral-Bilderberg Conspiracy To Take Over the World (IJCCFITBCTOW: "Running Your Life Since 1129"):

Yes, we were involved, but not the whole putting-him-in-prison bit; turns out he got imprisoned because he's a corrupt lunatic. No, the only part* we were involved in is that we hooked him up with his toupee. We just did it as a gag, and we're kinda surprised he's still wearing it.

* Yes, I did that on purpose.

I thought states could not place qualification limits on national offices where the qualifications are defined by the US constitution.

That's why a state cannot put in term limits for senators or congressman.

I should have been more specific. A murder could run for governor or mayor but not vote for those offices. Although technically, I was correct in saying that in Tennessee a murderer could run for congress without being able to vote for himself.
