Oh look, it's someone making an unsubstantiated claim because they think their hobbies are better than someone else's. Perhaps you would like to be a bit more skeptical in your rather broad generalizations?

Damn, is that where my virgin support group was supposed to convene? I must have looked like an idiot holding my "Optimus Prime is Messiah" sign at the Dairy Queen.
 
Dunno about the 'virgins' aspect, but they were all obviously quite young - not a 'Nov shmoz ka pop', 'Klaatu barada nikto' or 'This sign intentionally left blank' sign visible. :(

In one show (Futurama I think, maybe simpson) it is shown as a TV reality show animator, where women come to speaks, and he is called ben (maybe a reference to that serie with the kid and ben the bear ?).

You see possible couples in the pictures. Con goers could have significant others at home. Not every fan of comics is a cellar dweller in his or her Mom's home.:p
