OK, that was serious laughter there. The Bender costume is awesome with his "Kill all humans" sign as is the Star Wars dude with "God Hates Jedi".

The signs "Is this thing on?" and "Magnets - How the *?#! do they work??" elicited some great guffaws as well.
 
My favorite part was the chant they yelled:

Unbeknownst to the dastardly fanatics of the Westboro Baptist Church, the good folks of San Diego's Comic-Con were prepared for their arrival with their own special brand of superhuman counter protesting chanting "WHAT DO WE WANT" "GAY SEX" "WHEN DO WE WANT IT" "NOW!" while brandishing ironic (and some sincere) signs. Simply stated: The eclectic assembly of nerdom's finest stood and delivered.

I applaud them. Had I been there, I would have counter-protested with a sign reading something like, "I use my freedom of religion to practice bigotry! (am I cool now?)".

I've been racking my brains trying to remember where that was from. It's one of those things that's right there, I just can't get it . . . .

Is it a guy who's partially obscured behind a policeman?

If so, its probably Warren the Ape, probably best known from the TV show Greg the Bunny (although he appears to have his own spin-off TV show now).
