Westboro Baptist to protest Caylee Anthony's funeral

Hopefully the people down in Orlando are as well organised as other parts of the country in combating this particular form of hate. What I would give to be a fly on the wall when Fred Phelps tries to explain his actions to God would be pricesless

I would guess they are in house productions. Given the dislike Phelps has generated from both athiests and theists, would you risk your companys reputation on the how people would react if the news got out of what you were doing?
 
Some gay person should change their name to Fred Phelps, and make a public condemnation of ol' Fred. See if they have the guts to make signs saying "God Hates Fred Phelps".

One of his daughters was in KC this weekend. They were protesting a gay student that had been voted Prom King or something like that. Thing was, it was last year, the kid had already graduated. Didn't slow them down, though.
However, they were outnumbered and out-shouted by the counter-protest. Hey, even the kid showed up to make fun of them!
If there was ever a case to be made for stupid being hereditary, this would be it!
 
I read the article, and I'm still unclear what pretense Phelps is going to use to demonstrate. WHY exactly does god hate Kaylee?

I'm kind of amazed that he hasn't had his ass handed to him at some of the military funerals. The Patriot Guard guys take that stuff very seriously, and wouldn't be above a whuppin'.
 
I would love it if it turns out old Fred and his gang were a Discordian "Operation MindF[rule X]" excercise meant to make religious extremism and homophobia unpalatable in order to steer the mainstream the other way.

Even if he's not: keep it up, buddy!

In December of 07' my best friend was killed in action in Mosul Iraq. On behalf of my friends family, I contacted the local branch of the Patriot Guard Riders. The word was already out that Mr. Phelps followers were going to descend upon our community with their insanity and hate. The P.G. Riders were absolutely outstanding people to deal with, and not a single "protester" was ever seen by any of us in the funeral procession. We are forever grateful to the Riders for not allowing my friends final journey to be tarnished by these despicable pathetic people.

They have been out here twice (that I am aware of). The first time, there were a few people who showed up to counter-protest, and one of the local news team sent a guy to ask them a few questions.

The second time, everyone just ignored them.

There hasn't been a third time.

Phelp's point is, firstly, to gather as much press coverage as possible, and nothing attracts the press more than they being clangorously present at emotional scenes.

Phelp's point about Caylee, secondly, and all the other funerals that he attends, is not that they are necessarily bad as individuals, but rather that the United States is morally corrupt altogether, in that the country condones homophiliac behavior. He sees this as an overwhelming evil, so his demonstrations are in order in all venues in our culure. He intentionally picks those that will get the most rise out of you and me and the media.

That it disturbs the families involved is just collateral damage to Phelps. He feels that this is justified by the evil he sees. I see his "sins" in this are pride and disrespect to others - because he is manipulaing their grief and because he is a homophobe.

So this church isnt demonstrating for the rights of defenceless children but rather using the service as a platform to demonstrate gawds hate of America?
