About two years ago I downloaded a few podcasts to occupy my mind on a long drive. I left home without a label and arrived upstate a Skeptic, with a capital "S." I had, in fact, long been a skeptic, but that capital "S" was new to me, and I'm very happy to have discovered this movement and the community that supports it.

I've never really been a message board guy, but this is me, giving it a shot. My gift to myself this summer will be a trip to TAM and I figure it couldn't hurt to really soak myself in the skeptical waters and hopefully make some friends in the months leading up to Vegas.

Welcome, Interrobang. I think you'll find this is a welcoming and enjoyable online community, where you definitely can make friends. :)

And since you're going to TAM, make sure you follow the threads in the skeptical events subforum to stay on top of the many side activities around TAM. Hope to meet you there!

Hello my name is Gina...I've always been a skeptic.... Unfortunately behavior like that was not accepted for me until I became a college student. As a skeptic I do no deny or confirm anything, as everything changes all the time so with the world being so fluid it is good to be open minded and not believe everything we are told. Hoping to have lots of interesting conversations in the future concerning thoughts and views about psychology, sociology, philosophy, and mythology/religion.

Hi! I've been reading these Forums for a long time but never joined. I'm an average bloke - average job, average intelligence! There are a lot of very smart people in here and I've learned a loads just from reading. Anyway, lets see what happens!

Hey guys, everybody is welcome here! I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, and everybody welcomed me! (But they are sorry now!) I started with a real old computer, and dial -up, internet, and no computer knollage! So I went to the humor forum. They corrected me, picked on me, I thought at the time, They weren't picking, they were teaching. And I have learned alot, and still am. And so can you, if you are willing to look at different views, of a said subject.
 
Hi all. I'm a longtime lurker and reader and I've decided to finally join in. My background is in history and archaeology, and though I'm a skeptic I've always had interest in Fortean subjects. In fact there are a number of popular topics here that are right up my alley so I'm looking forward to joining in the conversations.

I'm a happy skeptic from the Highlands of Scotland with 2 dogs and 6 cats. 2 sons both in the army, one in Afghanistan at the moment.

Just want to say thanks to reading this forum -one of my 'hmm I wonder' beliefs has turned into a 'No chance, how could I have been so stupid''

I probably don't have much to contribute to the forum-evidence wise- to be honest, but wanted to register to show my support for the fab work the longer serving members do. Some of the 'truthers' and 'believers' have made me :jaw-dropp

My partner has also shown an interest in the website-so you'll probably have to put up with both of us :o
 
Howdy to the new folks. Here's a few helpful hints and links.

As with many UBB/VBB forums, there's a User Control Panel (User CP in the black section at the top of the page). There you can change options like your avatar or find images you've attached (uploaded to forum image servers, not ones you've linked to) and a subscribed thereads link that will display all subscribed threads making it easier to keep track of conversations in which you are participating.

Just a new poster

A friend referred me to this forum. He said I would probably find it interesting, since I'm such a skeptic.

The site is bigger than I thought. I think I'll take some time looking around, and probably not post much until I get a feel for the place. Mainly, to see if people here play nice. I'm not really interested in forums where people just scream at each other.
