Hi, everyone. I have been enjoying to browse each topic. Great site to give opinion and advice. Its good to say what we feel is right. While others may say their point of views. Its fun and helpful actually. By the way, Its nice to join everyone here!

Welcome Shuca, not to worry I'm a native English speaker and most of my posts seem strange even to me. This is certainly the place for topics about things that go bump in the night I recall one not too long ago about an old house and the topic of perhaps window sash weights knocking around came up. Sorry I can't find it now.

Hello there everyone.

I found this forum whilst looking for any Scio (the molecular sensor) related stuff after finally receiving mine two weeks ago and feeling rather disappointed at the limited scope and capabilities it has out of the box.

The thread however ended before Scio was released, and I couldn't find anything else related to it outside of that topic. Does anyone here have a Scio, or know someone who has who could give me any insight into its development since then? Was it a scam in its propaganda or is it really capable of doing what it promissed if the right apps are eventually released? The Scio Forum itself looks like a ghost town, so no hope for me there.

Anyways, glad to join a Skeptics forum that deals with such a wide range of topics. Hopefully I'll be able to chime in a few of them and contribute as time goes on.

Welcome Alex, I'm not familiar with Scio though the assertion of "(the molecular sensor)" does sound rather dubious. From a cursory examination it appears to be basically the sensor end of an infrared spectrometer, with the 'meat and potatoes' intended to be the database of user spectrographs and developed apps as time went on. Though I did read one account where it identified an M & M as ibuprofen. Also the indication of a subscription service (for I imagine that database and such) and more dineros for the app development software still, sorry to say, gives me a real scammy vibe. Hey buy this new toy, OK now pay more and do the work to helps us actually make it do interesting things (which may or may not come anywhere near what we have claimed it would do).

Perhaps start a thread I'd certainly be interested in the discussion or even your accounts of what you can actually do with it.

This is my second post here, and also probably where I should have started XD. Ok, right now I am into conspiracies, theories, myth, and religion (Not personally religious, but still enjoy learning about them).

I have a tendency to have far out there ideas on things, and will often toss them out with really bad writing skills. No caps, no paragraphs, some misspelled words, and horrible grammar. By time I'm done with this post, I am pretty sure I might be dead, because I'm pretty sure trying to get every caps and punctuation, and paragraphs to the best of my ability.....Just might be killing me XD.

Also not to mention, that if you ever have the chance to read any of my posts. Please take them with a grain of salt, no matter how serious I may make it sound. I'm just a bored nutcase sharing my thoughts. But i also like a friendly debate, so don't get caught XD.

Welcome, vanquishedlight a substantial effort and improvement. Tough you're not likely to hear me complain about one's grammatical errors. As you may have noted in the other thread I often edit my posts multiple times to correct errors I didn't find the first few times around.

Hello, I believed in the paranormal for my whole life until I realized how unhealthy and illogical it is. I've been doing a lot of research to educate myself and I came across this site. I've been doing everything I can to get rid of the last agred of belief because it is unhealthy and absurd to believe in something with no fact. Sadly, it's been hard since it was something ingrained in my brain for so long, but I'm hoping this will help me purge the nonsense from my brain. If anyone has any sitations to share to help with that, I'd appreciate it!
 
Welcome aboard, Formerbeliever. We have a lot of folk here who have had varying degrees of involvement with the woo side. Some were quite involved.

You'll find most of the viable threads in the "General Skepticism and the Paranormal" sub-forum. Feel free to bump old threads if you have a specific topic of interest or start your own thread.

In the interim, drop into some of the Forum Community threads. It's a much more relaxed atmosphere and you can ratchet your post count up so that you get to Avatar, Signature, and Linking "privileges". All that stuff is on time delay just as a step to prevent drive-by spammers. I think it's 15 posts for the ability to post a link and 50 to get an avatar and signature. Someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Good for you FormerBeliever and welcome.

We get a few believers in woo here, many of them Christians, and when you see the less than up to par responses we get from them, when probing questions are asked by fellow atheists, you will see how unsustainable their beliefs are. Check out the religion and philosophy site.
