Welcome new Members! Introduce yourselves here! Part II

Hello there,

I was looking into the JFK assassination and happened upon version III of the JFK conspiracy thread here. After reading 50 pages or so and having a look around, I figured I'd sign up. It seems like some good discussion goes on here. Not sure how much I'll contribute, but I thought I'd myself known before going back into lurker mode.
Welcom, and thanks for introducing yourself! I hope you find a lot more to interest you and maybe comment on.

Don't let my avatar put you off - welcome, and please wander around all areas and stick around. There's a lot to talk about.

Hello, my name is Bill. I joined here because member Emily the Cat put her hand on my throat, shoved me up against the wall, and told me if I didn't join here she would remove all of my grey hairs with tweezers and then she punched me in the stomach! 😋

You had me all worked up for an entirely different ending, but Welcome to the Forum anyway!

So how do you guys like new people to talk about stuff? Starting new threads better be good and they better aling with the in crowds beliefs, i get that. Commenting on long running threads better have fresh up to date comments with full knowledge of all previous comments and consensus. I get that.

So. How do you prefer new people to join your conversations?

To not ask a loaded question, because i can hear ozzies peaking out from behind kangaroos, how about these? 9/11. I will destroy your reality. Wait for it.... all of you. Why? Because you sre wrong. And because i am still working on it. But "I" (i dont know how to make italics) am based in facts, suppositions and inferences. The only thing worse than the official story is judywoodfanboys. The fringe guys like LongCon and 9/11revisionist and his little side kick MES math 9/11 are just there to keep people at arms length. So for 9/11. Yes im ready to start with your basic go to's. Im ready for you rhymes and riddles. Just be ready for my public documents. And public knowledge paper trail, laws, history. Remember, i use nothing outside of public documents or public knowledge. That does not always lead to complete facts. But it does do more than enough to require concern or investigation at a scientific or legal level.

@nt1 : Sup, yo? Welcome to the forum! To answer your questions above:

To engage, just jump in and speak your mind. Start a thread, post in an existing discussion, whatever. We don't have an in-club or hive mind; it;s an eclectic crew here and half of us don't even like the other half. Don't be shy.

Regaarding 9/11 themed discussions: baby, you've come to the right place. No riddles, just a small army of critical thinking engineers and a lot of takes on the subject that you haven't run across on twitter. This used to be the battleground for those with various conspiracy theories that their proponents thought would never be broken.

Our search function is down forum wide, but the 9/11 discussions are in Conspiracies. Hop in and start yapping, a lot of forumites will guide you to the appropriate thread if necessary.

Most important- read the rules. Theres only about a dozen, but they will keep things productive and prevent running afoul and getting actioned and stuff.

Jump in and enjoy! But seriously, start proofreading. In a highly technical discussion "oh hey man that was another typo LOL" is going to be met with mockery and ridicule, and rightly so.

Go get 'em, tiger.

What Thermal said, plus the way to put text into italics is to highlight the word or phrase you want italicised, and then tap the capital I at the top of the edit box. It's the second one along, after the B (which is the one to use if you want to make text bold).

Welcome to the forum, have fun.

Thank you. I will do everything tou recommended except purposely proof reading and editing. I saved you my long response. But trust me, i wont. Ive read perfectly punctuated trash and ive had a homeless man, with no teeth, say something more enlightening then some graduates would have been able to compose. If I am more logical in a discussion, but miss a spelling and punctuation, and someone sides with the other person over grammar. I wasnt going to be able to help them anyway. A bias to nice packaging over truth or a genuine attempt, is what got us to where we are today. Thanks. Ill go read the rules.

I do not agree on the issue of proofreading. I have forgotten his name now, but some years ago there was a poster here who was some kind of handyman/building superintendent in a city like Chicago. Poorly educated, and by his own account dyslexic, a bad typist and a laborious writer, he made coherent contributions to threads (even when one did not agree), and was easy to communicate with, because he had some respect for the people he was writing to, and took time to proofread, which in his case was likely pretty intensive. It was more interesting to read about his struggles with a rusty car and bad plumbing, and occasionally misinformed ideas about politics and social interactions, than to wade through some other people's poorly-edited and uncondensed spiritual excursions.

We all make mistakes from time to time, and typos and errors in hasty posts, but if you take no care in your writing it suggests you care little for those who have to read it. Neat packaging and truth are not mutually exclusive. While people of no substance or honesty certainly can doll up their nonsense with style, it does not mean those who speak the truth must compensate with neglect or to think good ideas require poor expression. Lack of punctuation and capitalization are not just conveniences for you. They are an imposition on your readers. You may assume what you say is more important than how you say it, but that is cold comfort if people don't bother to take the trouble at all. If you want people to heed what you say, take the time to say it well.

My response was not to anything specific in your posting or your style, but only to the pronouncement that you would not proofread or edit.

I do not think you will be taken to task for the occasional mistyping and that sort of thing here, though I suppose there are exceptions everywhere, and if you can make your ideas clear how you do it is of no concern. I just meant to point out that there can be good reasons to take care in your writing.

Apologies if it came off as a personal attack. My intention was a general opinion on a specific statement.

No one has said "whats up dude" "welcome" or "shut up we dont do that around here, dont accuse us of running an operation against new accounts".

Nope.
Da ◊◊◊◊ am I, chopped liver? My first words to you were a 'sup?' and welcome. Pixel42 welcomed you, and gave you a tip about a posting issue you raised.

And importantly, I recommended that in a highly technical discussion, like engineering issues in a 9/11 thread, that you take the extra steps to proofread, because your work will be scrutinized. These are some detail oriented brothers, and a lot of cranks make excuses about how their bad work 'was just a typo'.

I said you were genuine. I also missed a second reply where i was going to say i missed your "sup".

So no. You are definitely not chopped liver. My apologies if I wasnt more clear when i was responding to the guy talking about the poor mechanic that cant type.

To be clear. Your reply was totally cool and appreciated. My apologies if the one to the mechanic guy made you sound any other way.
