Weird keyboard problem - any ideas?

It seems to have stopped happening. Curiouser and Curiouser. Thanks for the suggestions, though...

Unless you have to use IE for some reason, you should really try a better, faster, less buggy browser like Google Chrome or Opera.

Plug in an external USB keyboard just to test.

It could also be something like gunk in the keys.

Also I have a keyboard that, from time to time, decides that a part of the letter keys should pretend it is a numeric keypad. I have no idea how it gets into this state, or how to get it out other than unplugging the keyboard for a few seconds.

You have somehow managed to turn on the number lock function.

Perhaps AVG was running a full scan in the background.

Not for three days - and it is still happening occasionally. Doesn't seem to be associated with any program running at the time. Also it's a fairly new laptop and doesn't seem to have anything settled in the keyboard as far as gunk - I did check. I also keep it closed when I'm not actively using it and don't eat over the top of it.

If I go for another browser, what one? I've resisted Google Chrome just because Google seems to throw a lot of stuff at me and I ignore most of it. But I could be convinced otherwise...

I have used chrome for a while and love it. Not sure what it could "throw" at me, though. It wants you to log in of course and probably directs ads based on where you click. It doesn't even make google the default search engine unless you choose it.

If ads bother you, try Firefox with Adblock added as a plugin. Seems slow to me though vs chrome.

I like Chrome.

The issue is back with a vengeance today. Going to try Chrome this evening...
