Website: Unite Against Terror.

Okay. What exactly would be accomplished by signing this letter?

"Okay. What exactly would be accomplished by signing this letter?"

Well, it will make manny feel better...you know, doing his bit for the War on Terror. Maybe he`ll get invited to join the JREF`s very own 101 Airbourne Division.
Your country salutes you manny and thanks you for your invaluale contribution to the WOT. I`m sure the guys actually fighting it appreciate your efforts.

Ah yes....the AWL rears its head in a new disguise... You will find many of the names mentioned as organisers of this signature thingy are current or ex AWL members. AWL is basically an organisation designed to further the cause of Zionism and fight against the possibility of the formation of a palestinian state.
Here is some background on AWL and the organisers of this signature thingy...Jane Ashworth, Simon Pottinger and Alan Johnson Thier goal is to align outrage with terrorism and support for zionism.

Manny...In no way am I suggesting you have posted this for any other reason than sympathy for the victims of the london bombings Its just that I saw some names in the organisers list that rang some bells....

Every time some idiot lets off a bomb in Israel, Iraq or the West the support for Zionism in the West increases.

When an outsider sees a Palestinian blowing themselves up in Israel they don't see a fighter in a geopolitical war, they see a Muslim Fundamentalist. When an outsider sees the number of Palestinians who are prepared to use the rhetoric of fundamental islam (martyr operations etc) and the general lack of voices opposed to fundamental islam (there are notable exceptions and more are probably being silenced by the fundamentalists) within Palestine they start to assume that the Palestinians are not fighting a geo-political war but are actually islamic fundamentalists.

When outsiders see Israel they see a modern western democracy that is being attacked by fundamental islam.

Do you honestly think it is unnatural for people in the West who percieve Israel to be fellow victims of fundamental islam to end up supporting Israel?

Do you think it odd that people in the West might think 'thank God, there's a couple of idiots who won't get the chance to blow themselves up on my bus,' when they see an Israeli jet blowing up a van full of rocket-armed militants?

I'm not disputing that

When an outsider sees a Palestinian blowing themselves up in Israel they don't see a fighter in a geopolitical war, they see a Muslim Fundamentalist.

Many of them are not muslim fundamentalists. Thier motivation is Palestinian nationalism.

And promoting that is the self appointed mission of many.

When outsiders see Israel they see a modern western democracy that is being attacked by fundamental islam.

Some do, some don't.. Do you know of many modern western democracies that have different laws for citizens of different religions?

Do you honestly think it is unnatural for people in the West who percieve Israel to be fellow victims of fundamental islam to end up supporting Israel?

Yes, thats why it is a popular line to promote Israeli zionists ambition to expand israel as being part of "the war on terror" rather than part of thier campagn for the expansion of Israel.

Do you think it odd that people in the West might think 'thank God, there's a couple of idiots who won't get the chance to blow themselves up on my bus,' when they see an Israeli jet blowing up a van full of rocket-armed militants?

I don't find it odd but I do find it worrying when I see campaigns designed to polarise the many and varied regional issues and disputes into one...terrorism VS the world. Do you see the expansion of Israel as an unintended consequence of a war on Muslim fundamentalist terrorism?

Their motive is Palestinian nationalism.

Oh, well, that's OK then.

Do you see the expansion of Israel as an unintended consequence of a war on Muslim fundamentalist terrorism?

If only.

Edited to add: Just re-looked at the site that "exposes" this evil zionist conspiracy behind AWL (which must be evil zionist conspiracy #254,223 by now.)

Just by the links on the left you can see what an objective, unbiased group you're dealing with here: "Marxist Theory / Socialist History / Left Politics / Islamophobia Watch", etc.

This site makes "The Age" look positively right-wing.

I suppose that depends on the signer. As for me, I think of it as sorryeverybody for people who are absolutely not sorry and have decided that it's time to call terrorism what it is and collaborators and racists who they are.

The rhetorical restraints are off. The people murdering hundreds in a desparate effort to thwart democracy in Iraq are not insurgents, they're terrorists. The people who call them legitimate resistance are not dissidents, they are the enemy.

I'd sign it if it was "Unite Against Christian and Islamic Fundamentalism".

why do you constantly call Zionism evil? Are you an anti-semite?

The "notable exceptions" include the Palestinian Authority and the PLO, which have not been silenced. The religious opposition to zionism has only gained influence gradually since the invasion of Lebanon in 1982. It's stronghold is in the Gaza Strip, with strong cultural links to Egypt and therefore the Muslim Brotherhood. Prior to that, and still for the majority of Palestinians, the conflict is over nationalism, the seizure of a country and the expulsion of its people.

Only with the failure of secularism to improve the Palestinian lot did Islamism enter into the mix, and it was, ironically, promoted by the Israelis as a means of weakening the PLO. In this regard Palestine is a microcosm of the Arab world generally, where the failures of secularism in Egypt, Iraq and Syria have served to promote Islamism. Most potent of all has been the example of Shi'ism in Iran and Southern Lebanon, which has been deeply shaming to Sunni Arabs.

Of course, most people don't know that and don't have it pointed out to them when incidents are reported. Most assume that because there's a religious element to the Palestinian conflict now, there always has been. Zionists are keen on promoting that idea and blaming Palestinian hositility on anti-semitism, as if an Irish Catholic Homeland carved out of Palestine would have been accepted calmly. Islamists - not being the brightest and the best, let's face it - play into their hands. They fall for the briar-patch ploy.

well 2 points...
You are the only one on this forum I can ever remember refering to Zionism as evil and you claim those that refer to zionism as evil are anti-semites....Its not my fault that there is a logical follow in your post that brands you as an anti-semite...maybe you should review your use of the term evil in every second post and you would not be jamming so many feet in your mouth.

Providence preserve me from post-Marxists. Have you come across the Living Marxism gang? They think Milosevich is a martyr. Zionism, of course, has impeccable socialist roots that pre-date Stalin, so it's OK. No benighted religiosity or racism in Zionism, no sirree.

I have referred to zionism as evil on more than a few occasions, but who remembers what I say? Just thought I'd point that out before someone else does.

as I suspected...you and "skeptic" .....secret brothers in the conspiracy.....Just don't be thinking that you can smuggle him into the next secret meeting.... ;)

Not exactly a good day for "The Fool". First he demands Mycroft show him how "Palestinian dance" is evil--and Mycroft does. Then he asks me who else called zionism "evil"--and Carpeldodger instantly replies that he has.

A lie....I didn't ask you anything, its just a few posts away for you to scroll to and check, you are lying....why do you claim I asked you for something?

Lol...Mycroft has show that palestinian dance is evil? I think its more accurate to suggest he claimed street protests are dance festivals and dance is evil because all aspects of palestinian culture are twisted towards genocidal hatred of jews.....or something like that.

Now he is off on a quest to prove Palestinian food is twisted to encourage genocidal hatred of jews. Do you think you can help find the root cause of the evil in palestinian cuisine?.. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Do you honestly expect that I can keep up with this sort of bizzare belief systems?
