Since we´ve already had two threads about normal comics lately, allow me to introduce a related genre - web comics. (for those of you who don´t know, these are comic strips published in the internet)
I´d like everyone who wants to introduce their favorite web comic.
I´ll start of with my favorite: The Order of the Stick, by Rich Burlew.
http://www.giantitp.com
(hint: go to the Comic section, then choose Cast of Characters from the bar at the bottom; the link from there takes you back to the latest issue, so then choose Start with #1)
The comic is about a party of adventurers from the Dungeons & Dragon (D&D) role-playing game who - hence the title - are drawn as stick figures. Some of the comic´s jokes make fun of the D&D rules, others make fun of role-playing or fantasy cliché; if you´re not into RPGs you´re probably not going to get these, but there are plenty of other jokes you WILL get.
The Order of the Stick consists of six brave adventurers:
Elan, an enthusiastic young bard who, unfortunately, isn´t the sharpest knife in the drawer
Typical Quotes:
"There´s six of us, and six of them. If we team up, all ten of us..."
"*singing* move, move, move, move silently across the battlefield."
Durkon Thundershield, a dwarven priest of Thor, god of thunder (and drinking), who is also very afraid of trees
Typical Quotes:
"What would Thor do?"
"There´s a saying among dwarves: if a tree kills alone in the forest, does it make a sound?"
Haley Starshine, a rogue whose interests include treasure, and the acquisition of treasure
Typical Quotes:
"...and treasure!"
"Sneak Attack!"
Belkar Bitterleaf, a halfling ranger with deap-seated emotional problems (read: homicidal maniac)
Typical Quotes:
"Gotcha, sucker!"
"You guys go ahead. I´ll harvest his kidneys and then catch up with you."
Varsuvius, an elven wizard with melodramatic tendencies
Typical Quotes:
"I am quite busy telling the laws of nature to sit down and be quiet."
"Well, either I have spontaneously decided to get in touch with my reptilian side, or I was the target of a baleful polymorph spell..."
And finally, Roy Greenhilt, a fighter who has the unenviable job of leading this menagerie on their adventures
Typical quotes:
"I dream of the day when I will have learned to stop asking questions to which I will regret learning the answers."
"*sigh*"
