Phil Plait was at the Boulder Bookstore tonight talking about his new book Death from the Skies! Whilst peering suspiciously at the ceiling, waiting for a comet or asteroid to come crashing through, we (wunky and I) were thoroughly entertained and educated in some of the myrid ways in which the universe is plotting to kill us. Somehow, we made it through the evening unscathed by falling rocks, gamma ray bursts, solar expansion, black holes crashing into us, or even an alien invasion. I think we were all partially disappointed by that, but Phil made up for it with a lively talk with a lot of humor and information. He's definitely worth seeing if he is in your area.

If anybody has a chance to listen to Phil Plait in a lecture, grab it. Heard him at Skeptics in the Pub in the UK earlier this year and he is educational, informative and vastly entertaining.

I've heard him on a couple of podcasts. He sounds both entertaining and informative. And of course, I have his blog in my reader.

I hope that's not a euphamism...
It is, actually, but I'm not going to tell you what it really means.

What are minties. I owe him some.
Minties are the greatest chewey mintey gooey bundles of mintey goodness EVAR! I understand that it's something of a tradition for Aussies attending TAM to bring along a big bag of minties for all you poor Americans who don't usually get to experience them.
