That's not just the Ultra-Orthodox.

I was raised Conservative Jewish, and am a practicing Conservative Jew (as a side note, I was very, very lucky....I was a member of Congregation Beth Sholom, and our main sanctuary was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, but that's for another time).

At any rate, I will right out God on the internet, or on electronic media.

However, I tend to note write out God on paper or printed word, etc. If I do, I hand off the paper to the shul in order for it to be buried. I usually use G-d, though, just out of habit.

I even know Reform Jews like that, too. It's not something that only the ultra Orthodox do.

To get back to the point: Eisenhower wasn't Jewish, of course. He was rumored, however, to have a distant ancestor who was a Jew (grandfather or great-grandfather, I believe). Whether this rumor is true or not I do not know, but it was enough, of course, for the Jew-haters.

The fact that the civil rights movement started to gain significance under his administration (of course progress was made before, e.g., it was Truman who desegregated the armed forces) also helped "convince" the Ku Klux Klan and similar organizations that if he wasn't a Jew, he was "acting Jewish" by improving the Blacks' lot.
