Was Edwards used as a Fox exeprt?

This morning, on one of the blogs I occassionally look at, I saw an item that said that Fox News had used Jonathon Edwards as an expert commentator on the Schiavo case. Does anyone know if that is true? If so, what kind of fai & balanced reasoning would justify a medium as an expert in this case?

I don't suppose it occurred to you that they meant Jonathan EdwardS, the guy who ran for vice president, not Jonathan Edward, the winner of the "Biggest Douche in the Universe" pageant?

No, actually, the blog was referring to the Medium...the guy who talks to dead people... not the VP candidate. But thanks for playing.

Well, which is more likely? The VP candidate or the douchebag?

And what are the chances that a blog is, y'know, wrong?

I saw a clip of it on the Daily show last night. There may be a video on comedy central.

You're kidding!!!??!!!

I honestly had trouble swallowing the idea that FoxNews would be that full of it.

Maybe FoxNews reported what he said, but I think it was more of a "Good Morning Show."

All the same, he was used (Said something, I believe about her soul talking about stuff...?).

I couldn't find the clip, it's to soon after the air date. Stewart didn't let it go unscathed, though. Rather funny segment.

I don't know about Fox News but on Monday Hannity had a caller who was retailing a story about how Edwards was able to relay the thoughts of an unborn fetus who was begging his mother not to kill him by having an abortion. She didn't explain the circumstances.

She then suggested that Edwards be used to read Shiavo's mind and speak for her so as to stop "this unnecessary execution".

I'm speechless.

I apologize, headscratcher, for my condescension and disbelief. I honestly couldn't bring myself to think that even FoxNews would stoop to such a bizarre level.

Just when you think you've reached the bottomof the barrel, you find out there is a lot more barrel.

You'd have to grow a whole lot taller to be able to talk down to me! ;)

Truely a strange thing though...when you see something like this you know that "news" has only become entertainmnet, because there is no other explination. A sad day. Scary. I am reminded of the re-vamped news in the movie "Network" -- they had a "seerer" in the newshour.

I have always taken cable news with a grain of salt. However I think in this case the news has taken a low that I could not have imagined it to go. Of course, perhaps, I'm just opening my eyes for the first time to see how bad the state of affairs actually is.

Sad, just sad.

Off the subject, don't you just want to slap that damn smirk off of Edward's face? I'm sorry, violence is an inapropriate response, still...

As is pointed out in this thread Edward was there to promote a book and claimed that he had the ability to read souls rather than minds which allowed him to know what T. Schiavo felt.

So it is not as bad as it first appears. FoxNews did not invite him on to speak as an expert in the Schiavo case.

Howard Stern was all over it this morning, talking about this case. He points out that the cable news nets are so Schiavo-obsessed, that they'll ask any guest, no matter the reason for their being on TV, to participate. This means they don't have to actually drop Schiavo even while ostensibly reporting other things.

I suspect that FoxNews/CNN/MSNBC are thinking of ways to inject the story into commercials, so that they can be truly 24/7 Schaivo conduits. How about an ad for Bounty paper towels? Great for wiping up the mess from your handicapped, but definitely lucid and feeling pain, loved ones? Ugh.

Hey, actually insurance companies should be advertising long-term care policies during Schiavo coverage. They should especially target the Texas market, where thanks to the previous governor (by dint of signing a particular law), nursing homes can remove the feeding tube from patients whose families can no longer afford the care.

That is a gross over-exaggeration of the situation. The law allows families ten days to find another health care facility before pulling the plug.

Uh, you forgot to attach your smiley. Here, I'll do it...

So all the family has to do is find a hosptial willing to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars caring for an indigent patient? That's easy!:D

In all seriousness though, the really cool part of the Texas law is that it enables the hospital to pull the plug not only against the wishes of the family, but also against the express wishes of the patient. In the most extreme case, the hospital could plug the plug on a patient like Terri Shiavo, even if she went in front of the hospital administrators and clearly and distinctly begged them to let her live!

Is that true? If you are alive and lucid, they will just starve you?

That must be why Jeb isn't going to assume state guardianship of Terri. If he does, there'll be a whole rush of people wanting to take up the offer.
